Minister’s aide accused of graft

An aide to Works Minister Baru Bian has been accused of offering government contracts and allocations to local PKR party leaders in Pahang.

PKR president-elect Anwar Ibrahim said these allegations are “compelling and disturbing”, and he would meet Baru about the allegations today. Baru had said he would welcome any investigation on the matter.

Movie on 1MDB in the works

Billion Dollar Whale co-author Tom Wright confirmed that a movie deal based on his book with fellow Wall Street Journal reporter Bradley Hope is being negotiated, and an announcement could be expected soon.

He also claimed that the financier Low Taek Jho is moving freely in China and has offered to set up meetings for Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad in New York in hopes of cutting a deal with Malaysia.

However, Mahathir’s aide Endie Shazlie told Malaysiakini that Mahathir and his entourage in New York had not been contacted by Low.
