A man was killed after an oil tanker hit a road divider, overturned and exploded at a traffic light junction in Medan Central in Bintulu, Sarawak, this afternoon.
Bernama quoted Bintulu police chief Supt Zailanni Amit saying the victim, identified as Martin Joshua, 31, was found underneath a Toyota Fortuner four-wheel-drive vehicle, which was also destroyed in the incident.
“When the incident happened, the oil tanker was travelling quite fast from the direction of Kidurong heading to Tanjung Batu,” he said in a statement.
When the tanker was negotiating a corner, it hit the road divider and overturned, before exploding.
The incident also caused six other vehicles, including a motorcycle, which had stopped at the traffic light junction, to catch fire.
