Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS), one of the five local-based opposition parties in United Sabah Alliance (USA) today announced that it is abandoning the USA.
PCS president Wilfred Bumburing said the decision was reached unanimously by the PCS supreme council during a meeting in Kota Kinabalu today.
"After much deliberation and discussion, the supreme council members unanimously decided that it would be in the best interest of PCS, its members and the people of Sabah who really want to see a regime change, that PCS stands on its own and therefore leave USA," Bumburing said in a statement.
According to him, PCS, which subscribed to the total regime change at the federal and state level through a grand alliance, was of the opinion that USA alone would not be able to achieve that objective.
He said there were opposition parties outside of USA that were reluctant to sit down with USA leaders and at the same time, there were leaders in USA who were reluctant to sit and talk to the other parties outside of USA.
Bumburing added that the PCS supreme council members were of the opinion that parties within the USA were not united in the quest for regime change and if there was no unity, PCS cannot achieve the intended cooperation with other parties.
"This decision made today also reflects the wishes of our grassroot members who wish to see a strong and united opposition front free from any outside influence," Bumburing said.
