The Election Commission (EC) yesterday published an updated redelineation proposal for Peninsular Malaysia following the conclusion of a four-month local inquiry to hear objections to its initial plan.

However, the updated redelineation proposal excluded Selangor as the EC failed to go ahead with its local inquiry in the state.

This was after the Selangor government successfully obtained a stay against EC's local inquiry from the High Court in Kuala Lumpur, pending a judicial review of the redelineation exercise.

The nationwide local inquiry, a requirement for the redelineation process, took place from Oct 31 last year to Feb 28.
