Sarawak PKR has warned Umno supreme council member Ismail Sabri Yaakob and other BN leaders to not bring their brand of racial politics into the state.

This followed Ismail Sabri’s recent visit to Kuching, where he urged Sarawakians to back BN because the coalition will safeguard bumiputera rights and privileges while the opposition parties would not.

In a statement today, Sarawak PKR chairperson Baru Bian said Ismail Sabri’s remarks were “shockingly racist”, aimed at dividing Malaysia along ethnic lines and fueling inter-ethnic resentment.
