PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has dismissed any possibility of working with DAP, according to a news report.
The News Straits Times quoted the Marang MP as saying this was because DAP had not shown that it supports PAS' Islamic cause.
"DAP showed its true colours to the Muslims in Penang. It failed to look after the interests of the people in Penang, although it had one term to do so.
"We (PAS) are not just talking about winning the general election but we want to bring about changes. Our agendas (DAP and PAS) are different," he reportedly said in Terengganu.
Hadi was responding to DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang extending an olive branch to PAS in order to form a pact to "save Malaysia from becoming a global kleptocracy".
The PAS president said DAP was "still against Islam" and the formation of an Islamic government which had been the core of PAS' struggle.
On the same note, Hadi said PAS was willing to hold discussions with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) on the possibility of cooperation.
This, he noted, was despite the party's chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad having been inconsistent in making public statements.
"We can talk. This is a democratic country," he added.
In another development, Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin held a meeting with Kelantan Menteri Besar and state PAS' deputy spiritual leader Ahmad Yakob in Kota Baru yesterday.
Harakahdaily said among the issues discussed during the two-hour meeting was the possible cooperation between PAS and Bersatu in the next general election.
Muhyiddin also told the PAS organ that another meeting would be held with the PAS leadership next month.
