Dr M dismisses comeback as PM despite being ‘more popular’ than Anwar

Dr Mahathir Mohamad today dismissed the possibility of making a comeback as prime minister despite a survey showing that he was the most popular candidate in the opposition.

The survey, released by Institut Darul Ehsan last December, found Malays favouring Mahathir more than jailed PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim as candidate for prime minister.

Mahathir was dismissive when asked about the survey.

“No, no... I have said that I will not contest (in the general election),” said the 91-year-old Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) chairperson after launching the party’s song in Shah Alam today...
