The International Sepaktakraw Federation (ISTAF) has suspended six Malaysian players and three officials over the failure of the players to attend a doping test, according to the Anti-Doping Agency of Malaysia (Adamas).
The agency said the players failed to turn for the test on Oct 23 during the 31st Thailand King's Cup Sepaktakraw World Championship in Bangkok.
The players and officials had 14 days to respond to ISTAF, Adamas said in a statement.
It also said that declining to attend a doping test after being notified constituted an offence under Article 2.3 of the World Anti-Doping Code.
“All the players and officials have been informed of their offence and the suspension,” Adamas said.
Media reports said Malaysian players listed for the second match in the final of the championship had boycotted the match citing umpire bias after the first regu lost to Thailand.
