About a dozen people ambushed Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad outside the Parliament lobby as he alighted from his car this morning and hurled insults at the Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) communications director.

The confrontation then turned physical as some of them attempted to force their way through the security personnel protecting Khalid.

In the ensuing scuffle, a few security personnel and assailants fell to the ground. Khalid was not harmed in the incident.

After being pushed back from the lobby, one of the assailants, shouted "Kami dari Pasir Salak ni bukan sial!"

The group then chanted "Hidup Pasir Salak!" before leaving the area.

Speaking to reporters after the incident, Khalid said that one of those in the group claimed to be the son of Pasir Salak MP and deputy minister Tajuddin Abdul Rahman.

"He asked me 'why did you call my father 'sial'?" added the Amanah lawmaker.

Khalid and Tajuddin became embroiled in an heated exchange in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday.

This was after the Umno MP insulted DAP lawmaker Teresa Kok over her name.

During the exchange, Khalid had called Tajuddin "sial", and repeated the remark outside the House when he explained his reasons for using the derogatory term during a press conference.

Tajuddin has threatened to sue the Shah Alam MP.

Meanwhile Khalid thanked Parliament security for putting their bodies on the line to protect him.

He said they had informed him upon reaching the Parliament gate that the would be assailants were waiting for him and had asked him if he wanted to come in at a later time.

"But there are a lot of motions today that I want to debate, so I went in anyway and they escorted me," he said.

He has raised the matter in the House and Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia promised investigations.

The Amanah lawmaker also said that he will be lodging a police report later.
