PARLIAMENT PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's controversial 'hudud' motion has been pushed down the Order Paper on the second day of the third and final session of the Dewan Rakyat sitting for this year.

Hadi's Private Member's Bill proposing the amendment of the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965 (Act 355), was bumped down from fourth place on the Order Paper yesterday to the seventh spot today.

It was moved down the line as more government motions made it to the list. Government motions always take precedence over non-government ones.

With the bump down, it's becoming more unlikely that Hadi's motion will make it to the debate floor.

It may even be moved further down the Order Paper in the coming days.

Starting next week, debates in Parliament will focus on the 2017 Budget, which will be tabled on Friday by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

The debates will only progress to other matters on the last two days of this parliamentary session, which ends on Nov 24.

If it is pushed further down the line, Hadi's only chance is to get the government to push it up.

This was what happened in the last sitting of Parliament, when Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Azalina Othman Said bumped Hadi’s motion up at the behest of Najib and Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

However, after an uproar on the move from BN component parties, such as MCA and MIC, the chance of this happening again is doubtful.
