Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd will be providing free service for three days to commuters on the Light Rail Transit System Kelana Jaya Line from Sept 13 to 15, following the service disruptions on Wednesday and today.
Prasarana Malaysia Bhd chief executive officer Azmi Abd Aziz said the free service for the Gombak-Putra Heights-Gombak route covers 37 stations.
"On behalf of Rapid Rail we would like to apologise for the inconvenience, this (free ride) is one way we are showing our appreciation for the loyalty of our commuters," Azmi told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.
He said the causes of the service disruption incidents were still being investigated and the problems would be resolved as soon as possible for the comfort of commuters.
"The disruption today is a continuation of what happened on Wednesday, but there are different causes," he said.
The Kelana Jaya LRT route suffered service disruption on Wednesday morning and the same thing happened this morning, affecting commuters who were travelling to work.
Commenting on the incident where LRT users had to walk 60 metres on the LRT tracks from the Datuk Keramat to Damai station, Azmi said it was necessary for the sake of their safety.
"This is not the first time this has happened. When the trains lose their electric power source, there will be ventilation problems. So we had to use the safety track designed for such incidents," he said.
He said four staff were assigned to help passengers exit the train during the incident.
Azmi also said Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd would submit a report on the disruption to the Land Public Transport Commission (Spad) tomorrow.
