YOURSAY | ‘Money-laundering is a crime in US. Stolen money should not have been spent there.’
Hadi echoes Shahrizat, warns against foreigners meddling in 1MDB
Negarawan: Apart from being a dishonest politician trying to falsely portray himself as a devout Muslim, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's statement that no foreigner should meddle in 1MDB affairs clearly shows that he is highly ignorant.
Hadi wants to save PM Najib Razak, as any probe by the Malaysian public institutions will be closed with no action taken.
There seems to be a schism within PAS leadership. PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said the government should apply for intervenor status in the US Department of Justice's lawsuits to seize properties linked to 1MDB. Takiyudin seems to be well-informed about the DOJ's lawsuits.
With an incompetent and foolish leader like Hadi, the corrupt will continue stealing billions from the rakyat with total impunity.
Hadi is trying to push for hudud to mislead Muslims into voting for PAS. His hudud does not have any provision for corruption, which is the biggest problem in Malaysia, especially among Muslim leaders.
This is one reason why hudud must be rejected.
Existential Turd: The massive corruption has already happened. It is the fault of people like Hadi for turning a blind eye to blatant corruption and serious breach of trust.
They always talk about religious piety. But when it comes to transparency and accountability in government, they reveal themselves as liars and hypocrites.
CQ Muar: Herein lies an example of a so-called 'religious' leader cowardly supporting 1MDB.
On the one hand, he claimed his party PAS is against unwholesome activities; advocates punishment for sins, crimes and wrongdoings by chopping off limbs and public stoning.
On the other, he exhibits his true colours by echoing his support for another allegedly corrupted Wanita leader.
I can imagine how the world is mocking and laughing at the low mentality of these specimens who claimed to be leaders of their parties. Real clowns indeed!
Hibiscus: Hadi's utterances reflect that he has not understood why the DOJ is taking action against the alleged money launderers connected with 1MDB - the money laundering was done using American banks and the money was used to buy assets in America.
The US wants to deter people using the US as a safe haven for money launderers. The DOJ would not have bothered at all if these money launderers had not involved activities done on American soil.
I suggest that Hadi get somebody to translate the DOJ report into Bahasa Malaysia for him to read, as obviously, because of his poor command of the English language, he has depended on second-hand information.
Obvious Conclusion: How sad that we have a so-called religious leader who has totally no sense of morality.
A group of Malaysians, which include MO1 (Malaysian Official 1), allegedly conspired to cheat 1MDB of billions of dollars and laundered some of the ill-gotten gains on American soil.
This prompted the Americans to take legal action to freeze the accounts of these alleged crooks. This is hardly construed as meddling in Malaysia's internal affairs.
This is merely a case of a possible crime committed by Malaysians on American soil and America is duty-bound to take action under its strict anti-money-laundering law.
Hadi and Umno Wanita chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil must be out of their mind to accuse the US of meddling in our internal affairs.
I am particularly disappointed with Hadi, who is supposed to be a man of God, and is expected to possess high moral standard, not one who turns a blind eye to corruption and CBT (criminal breach of trust) and supports immoral activities.
Gerard Lourdesamy: Indeed, if Malaysian citizens or corporations break laws in foreign countries, these countries are entitled to investigate and prosecute the alleged wrongdoers in their own courts. Why must they defer to Malaysia to lead the investigations?
Perhaps Hadi and his gang of ultra-ulamas should go to Washington DC and explain to the US attorney-general and the DOJ that under the syariah law, nobody can be charged or prosecuted unless there are four pious and reliable Muslim witnesses who saw the crime being committed.
Babylon: If an American brings drugs to Malaysia and he is hanged here, it is not meddling by Malaysia. You break the law of the land, you pay. Period. Get it?
Anonymous_1371455381: I would have thought that PAS stood for something during the time of Tok Guru (Nik Aziz Nik Mat), but now it would seem that everything wrong is acceptable so long as they are able to achieve their aim of introducing PAS’ brand of hudud in this country.
Anonymous #44199885: Not surprising for this to come from Umno Agent 1 in PAS. PAS is now the partner of Umno and the statement by its president is a clear indication of the future that awaits Malaysians.
We can never dream of a fair and just society or a corruption-free government. PAS will, while holding the hands of Umno, ensure that that will never happen.
Hadi’s unintelligent mutterings show his shallow knowledge and regard for financial and moral integrity. The crime our PM is accused of is corruption on an international scale where the laws of many jurisdictions have been broken to allegedly steal money from the Malaysian public.
PAS should be shown the door and consigned forever to history. We don’t need corrupt leaders nor supporters of corrupt leaders, particularly the ones who label themselves as religious teachers.
Hang Babeuf: I have been waiting for it. Now it has at last appeared: in a headline in (Mingguan) Utusan Malaysia - ‘DOJ buli Malaysia’ (DOJ is bullying Malaysia).
This is the kind of stupidity to which Shahrizat and her friends are desperately clinging, and which that benighted Tok Guru Hadi now lends his dubious political credibility and authority.
What a country Malaysia has become! A country dying of a deep shame that its political leaders cannot or will not see.
Yap Cs: That's the problem with these frogs dwelling in the well. For your information, these crimes are committed overseas involving foreign banks.
So it is not foreigners coming to interfere with our idiotic system here; rather it's local idiotic people who allegedly commit criminal acts outside the country thinking they are the masters of the universe.
Shahrizat, if you break US laws, you’ll have to pay for it
