Singaporean comedian Fakkah Fuzz today apologised for causing offence over a joke he made where he likened Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to a "thief".

However, he said he was not accusing anyone of anything and was just making jokes about current events.

The statement failed to calm Selangor and Federal Territories Umno Youth who now want the comedian barred from Malaysia.

In a video clip which went viral, Fakkah said Singapore Malays call a thief 'pencuri' while Malaysian Malays call a thief 'perdana menteri' (prime minister).

"I'm just saying what I hear, not saying 'this person is guilty of this. Not at all. Please don't take what I said out of context as I'm not out to slander anyone...

"Having said that, everyone needs to open their minds, be a little less sensitive and learn to take a joke once in a while," he said in a Facebook posting early today.

He also admitted to taking down the clips following the uproar.

"So I hope u guys can find it in your heart to chill a bit and just enjoy the next time I post something up.

"If you love it, great. Dont like it, just click away. No one is forcing you to watch anything. This is the Internet."

His explanation did not convince Federal Territories Umno Youth who urged the Home Ministry to bar Fakkah Fuzz from entering Malaysia.

"We won't be even the slightest disadvantaged by keeping people like him out of Malaysia," Federal Territories Umno Youth chief Mohd Razlan Muhammad Rafii said in a statement.

Selangor Umno Youth chief Zainuri Zainal said Fakkah Fuzz's apology is not enough because his joke had a "deep impact" on Malaysians.

"Our advice to Fakkah is to look at himself in the mirror before meddling in Malaysia's affairs," he said in a statement, as reported by Berita Harian.
