K KANGSAR POLLS PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli may know as early as tomorrow whether he will be charged or otherwise over his “atomic bomb” remark.
The Pandan lawmaker confirmed this to reporters after giving his statement on the matter at the Kuala Kangsar police district headquarters this afternoon.
Rafizi said he was "surprised" when told that police had already taken statements from other witnesses.
“The police reports were only lodged a few days ago, so this means that as quick as the reports were lodged, the police have taken statements from other witnesses,” he said.
The PKR secretary-general, however, said he was not surprised that this would entail the end of the police’s investigation and they would therefore wrap up the case within the next few days.
“So we may know earlier on, tomorrow, even, or next week whether they will proceed with the charge,” he said.
Rafizi also confirmed that he did not answer any of the questions posed to him except for normal background questions as he will "answer the rest in court".
The lawmaker, earlier today, said a police officer approached him yesterday and told him to give a police statement.
Local residents here had filed police reports against Rafizi over his remarks made during a ceramah last week.
The opposition leader had said that if elected, Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) candidate Ahmad Termizi Ramli, who is a nuclear physicist, would be asked to hurl an “atomic bomb” at Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak in Parliament.
Perak police chief Abd Rahim Hanafi then confirmed that police were probing Rafizi for criminal intimidation and an investigation paper was opened under Section 506 of the Penal Code.
