SG BESAR POLLS Inflammatory banners against BN and PAS in Sekinchan were put up by DAP, said the party's Selangor chief Tony Pua.
"It's by us. (We put it up) this afternoon only," Pua told Malaysiakini.
He then defended the move, especially the banner which had a controversial quote by Sungai Besar chief Jamal Md Yunos.
"We are only highlighting the fact that he (Jamal) as Sungai Besar chief said this about Chinese people.
"We wanted to highlight these issues. But the Election Commission has decided that they were against the election rules upon receiving complaints and hence the bilboards have been taken down."
The billboard of Jamal carried the words "Panggil Cina babi tidak salah," (It is not wrong to call Chinese pigs) in Malay and Chinese, referring to his argument that it is not insulting to call the Chinese by the name of the animal as it is not sensitive to them in the aftermath of last year's Red Shirt rally.
Another billboard merged the faces of PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, MCA chief Liow Tiong Lai and Umno president Najib Abdul Razak into a kind of triple Siamese twin.
The image was captioned in Malay and Chinese with the slogan: "BN, PAS Sehati Sejiwa, Rasis Rasuah Sama Sekali" (BN, PAS One Heart One Soul, Racist and Corrupt One and All).
In the background is a photo of Hadi holding the infamous giant mock keris during his party's recent muktamar and the logo of 1MDB and the words "Skandal RM4.2 billion".
The billboards were taken down this evening by the EC, police and Pakatan Harapan supporters.
