DAP Youth chief Wong Kah Woh has hit back at his counterpart from PAS, Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz, for alleging that the party was responsible for the Islamist party's eventual split that resulted in the formation of Parti Amanah Negara.

Wong claimed that Nik Abduh appeared to have learned Umno’s tactics of uttering uncouth remarks and baseless claims, following the Islamist party’s ‘engagement’ with Umno, in less than a year since Pakatan Rakyat was disbanded.

Wong was commenting on Nik Abduh’s speech at the PAS Youth muktamar earlier today, as reported by Malaysiakini.

The PAS Youth chief was quoted as saying: "Who broke up PAS to the point that some drunk members moved to Amanah.”

"DAP gave the 'arak' (liquor) until they formed Amanah. That is a sign DAP is arrogant."

Wong, in response, said that Nik Abduh had made an arrogant claim that revealed his lack of manners.

“Such empty shots and slander would not have been done by the PAS that DAP knew during the era of Pakatan Rakyat...

“It is clear that after repeatedly confirming its (PAS) cooperation with Umno now, and also being the ‘adviser’ to Umno, the Umno infection of always accusing DAP as being ‘anti-Malay’ and ‘anti-Islam’ has now spread to Nik Abduh’s leadership,” said the Canning assemblyperson.

Wong also pointed out that when questioned by DAP national organising secretary Anthony Loke over his remarks yesterday, Nik Abduh had said he was merely using a figure of speech.

“Nik Abduh should be responsible for his own statements and claims, and he should have also carried the legacy of the late Nik Aziz who was revered by all Malaysians for his honesty in leadership."

Nik Abduh has also urged his party to reclaim the seats which were purportedly loaned to DAP in the last general election.

Loke, however, denied the existence of such a deal between the two parties

Wong urged Nik Abduh to withdraw all his claims against the DAP in order to maintain what is left of the Islamist party’s credibility after 65 years since it was formed.
