Second body believed to be from helicopter located

The team in the Search and Rescue operation for victims of the helicopter that is believed to have crashed on Thursday found another body, 10 kilometres from the SAR centre in Lingga, about 250km from Kuching this morning.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue director Nor Hisham Mohammad confirmed that the body was found at 8.31am.

"The body would be brought to a place yet to be decided," he told Bernama.

The remains of the first victim, Deputy Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Noriah Kasnon was located on the bank of Sungai Batang Lupar near Sebuyau, about 30km from Lingga, yesterday afternoon.

Other passengers in the ill-fated helicopter were Plantation Industries and Commodities secretary-general Sundaran Annamalai, and Noriah's husband Asmuni Abdullah.

Kuala Kangsar member of parliament Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad who is also Malaysian Palm Oil Board chairman, Noriah's bodyguard Ahmad Sobri, and Filipino pilot Rudolf Rex Ragas were also in the helicopter.

The Eurocopter AS350 left Betong for Kuching at 4.12pm on Thursday when it reportedly disappeared from radar a few minutes later.

Parts of the helicopter were recovered yesterday near Sungai Batang Lupar, Sebuyau.
