Penang Umno youth secretary Ifan Zaimi Taha lodged a report today urging the police to probe the statutory declaration (SD) issued by the businesswoman who sold her bungalow on Jalan Pinhorn to Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng in 2015.
Phang Li Koon, 39, made the SD yesterday.
Ifan took issue with paragraph 12 of the SD which stated Phang had no business dealings with the state government.
He lodged the report as he found the contents of the SD "suspicious and not so accurate".
"According to the website of Penang Invest - a state government agency - Phang's company, Windbond Manangement and Consultant Sdn Bhd, where she holds 20 percent shares, is listed there as providing services for the recruitment of foreign workers," Ifan said outside the Northeast police headquarters on Jalan Pattani.
Malaysiakini has checked the Penang Invest website and found that the state investment arm publicised the names and services of many companies operating in Penang.
However these companies do not necessarily have any business dealings with the Penang government.
Ifan also urged the police to probe Phang's statement where she said the bungalow was sold to Lim for RM2.8 million on a "willing seller, willing buyer" basis.
"But according to Section 165 of the Penal Code, it is an offence for a public servant to purchase any property below market price.
"Moreover, documents from the Inland Revenue Department stated that the value of the property is about RM4.7 million in 2015.
"SDs should not be taken lightly," Ifan declared.
Lim is facing intense pressure, including a probe by the Malaysiam Anti-Corruption Commission over the purchase of his home.
He was recently accused by Umno Tasek Gelugor MP Shabudin Yahaya of corruption related to the alleged undervaluing of his property although Lim insisted that the price was decided between him and Phang.
Lim was also accused of receiving kickbacks as Phang's business partner is the chairman of KLIDC, the company that won the bid to develop Taman Manggis, formely a state government land.
Lim said the land - which BN claimed was earmarked for housing for the poor - was sold to the dental care company via an open tender committee chaired by the state secretariat and not him.
