A police report has been lodged against Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng for allegedly purchasing a house, which he was previously renting, at an unusually low price.
This comes after Tasek Gelugor MP Shabudin Yahaya said in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday that Lim was involved in corruption.
The report was lodged by Malaysia Social Media Monitoring Ant Team president Zaparudin Abdul Rahim at the Dang Wangi police district headquarters today.
“I just made a police report requesting them to investigate the revelations by Shabudin Yahaya who claimed that Lim Guan Eng is involved in corruption.
“The bungalow in Georgetown is purportedly worth RM2.5 million in 2008 and it has undergone major renovations.
“Based on checks and as said by many people, the current value of the bungalow is approximately RM6.5 million. But the bungalow was bought by Lim at only RM2.8 million. How many millions in difference is that?” he said to reporters.
He also hopes that the rakyat will open their eyes to the actions of DAP who is constantly attacking Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak on the RM2.6 billion scandal.
“I want to ask, is DAP and the Penang state government transparent and free from corruption?
“I hope the rakyat will open their eyes and decide for themselves. This is the true face of DAP.
“Every day they accuse the government, accuse Najib and attack the prime minister on the RM2.6 billion issue which has already been solved,” he said.
As such, he urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate and take action against Lim.
“I also want to urge authorities like MACC to take strict action, in a fair and professional manner.
“Investigate all the allegations against the Penang chief minister,” he said.
Previously, Lim had refuted this accusation and pointed out that the house was a 30-year-old ordinary bungalow lot.
“It is not a mansion and has no swimming pool,” he had said.
