Police are in the midst of completing investigation on Dr Mahathir Mohamad's alleged slander posted in his blog early this month.

Deputy inspector-general of police Noor Rashid Ibrahim said when the investigation on the former prime minister was completed, it would be referred to the deputy public prosecutor for further action.

"We will study and complete the investigation before handing it over to the DPP," he told reporters after launching the roundtable on root cause of crime organised by the Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) in Kuala Lumpur today.

On Feb 24, police recorded a statement from Dr Mahathir concerning the posting in his blog 'Che Det' on Feb 5 which was alleged to be slanderous.
