YOURSAY Even if they are willing to involved in 1MDB issues, what can they do?
Mukhriz wants sultans to summon 1MDB investigators
Shibboleth: The rulers will say to former Kedah MB Mukhriz Mahathir, "But it was your father who took away all our powers." Sorry, the son has to suffer the sins of his father.
Having said that, without the father, Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah, not the son, would have been MB three years ago. According to Kedahans, Mukhriz was shuttling to and from Kuala Lumpur and only talked about mega projects. He was an MB ruling by "remote control".
Abasir: Now why would the Conference of Rulers want to open a Pandora's box and risk more sordid details spilling out - details that may cause red faces. Orange, I understand, is not a favoured colour among the rich fellows living in palatial abodes.
Doc: If the Conference of Rulers does agree to summon the various agencies probing 1MDB, and to brief them on their investigations, what are they going to do after that?
Kamikasi: Any officer caught for corruption can argue it was a donation. A precedent has been set and the AG has approved such a transaction as legal.
Boeyks: You forget the few ministers who have been defending the "donation & 1MDB" scandal They seem to know the truth better than those who are involved with the investigations. Also, the MPs, chairmen of government-linked companies and a few cyber troopers seem to know.
Give them a chance to tell what they know - i.e. the real story that has been denied from the people for so long.
Ipoh Lan: To all my dear sultans, time to do something, rather than cheap talk only.
P.Dev Anand Pillai: History will tell us that none of the nine royal houses will ever do what Mukhriz is asking of them. If they were made of that calibre, he would not have been asked to resign as the MB of Kedah.
Mohican: My dear Mukhriz, almost 30 million Malaysians (with the exception of a few 'tripods' and beneficiaries of the ill-gotten wealth) and the entire civilised world, know that somebody is guilty of a series of crimes committed through money laundering, cheating and misappropriation. Except the criminal himself and his trusted stooge appointed to exonerate him.
Fairnsquare: The question is not about rectifying the issues but explaining the causes. If 1MDB losses were due to wrong decisions, this is acceptable, but if this were due to criminal acts like CBT, corrupt practices, theft, etc, then action must be taken.
We applaud the prime minister for rectifying the sale of the Bandar Tun Razak project, but the issue is about the cause of losses in the first place. The AG's decision that the RM2.6 billion was a donation has been countered as an investment by the Saudi government, further discrediting the AG.
This further increases the suspicion that the money was from 1MDB. The rakyat needs to gain trust and confidence in the government and cybertroopers giving nonsensical comments do not help.
Burong merah: Good move, Mukhriz. Hope it produces results.
Bornean: Let us hope this will happen soon as this 1MDB issue is killing all of us. Don't give them too much time as this is an endless hole.
Kangkung 1M: The Johor sultan should demand an explanation from Bank Negara and MACC on the investigations completed by them as well the recommended charges on Najib. Then he should summon the AG and demand that he explains on what grounds or rights he had to clear Najib of corruption.
Anonymous 2387171454400773: The case is settled. So think about how to develop our beloved country rather than asking for more explanations after the investigation has been completed.
Send in the Clowns: Is the Conference of Rulers ready for a showdown with the corrupt and evil Umno regime? Mukhriz, if you and your father refuse to disassociate with Umno, you are still part of the problem. You cannot play the role of a game warden and simultaneously, go hunting for 'protected' species'.
Anonymous 2387171454400773: Provide the proof. Black-and-white evidence is important to convince people nowadays. Otherwise, this just falls into the category of slander or conspiracy to attack someone's credibility.
What is Mukhriz's stance in Mahathir's anti-Najib campaign? If Mukhriz can openly declare himself as fully supporting Najib's leadership and has no doubts about RM2.6 billion political donation, for sure the Kedah MB issue could have been solved in a peaceful manner.
FutureMalaysians: I like your suggestion, former MB. Hope it happens. Hope something is done fast.
Anonymous_1429007525: Your making of this call shows courage on your part. Very good. Make this happen for all Malaysia. You will be the next prime minister.
Monty: Mukhriz, this call will not go anywhere at all. But if you had the courage to make this call when you were still MB and had the ear of the Sultan of Kedah, it might have been more effective.
But no, you hesitated the same way former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin did. You guys need to get your act together and do something really drastic if you want Najib gone.
Anonymous 2397981454392745: This is a statement from someone who is disappointed with his political career.
Patriot of Malaysia: Poor little Dr M's boy, he now wants to openly help papa. Whether we like Najib or not, he was not wrong to take this guy down. Dr M's last trump card - poof, it's gone.
