MACC chief vows to get to the bottom of PM's 'donation' case
Res Ipsa: The case being investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) pertaining to the RM42 million from SRC, which found its way to the personal bank accounts of PM Najib Razak, is an open-and-shut case.
To date, Najib has not been forthcoming in explaining why the money was deposited into his personal account. Granted that the investigation into the RM2.6 billion ‘donation’ may take some time but that is a separate issue.
Why doesn’t MACC forward all the cause papers on the RM42 million immediately to the AG's Chambers and strongly recommend to that the guilty parties be immediately charged?
Why is there a need to wait for the investigation on the RM2.6 billion to be completed first?
With the overwhelming evidence, we are all eager to see whether attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali will press charges or once again refuse to do so on the ground of insufficient evidence.
So MACC chief Abu Kassim, please get the ball rolling with the RM42 million case straightaway.
Touche: For many months Abu Kassim kept quiet even when his staff and subordinates were bullied by the inspector-general of police (IGP).
Now all of the sudden, he came out and say he would get to the bottom of the RM42 million SRC case and RM2.6 billion ‘donation’. Is he pulling our legs?
Has he done a deal with Najib? I will not give him the benefit of doubt. He has to earn it.
Wg321: Let us assumed that Najib is guilty of corrupt practices. Do you think Abu Kassim dares to prosecute him?
Does Abu Kassim knows who Najib is?
Najib is his boss. Najib controls the police, the MACC, the Attorney-General’s Chambers, the Armed Forces through the National Security Council law, the Special Branch, the judiciary, Rela, the civil service, Parliament, the Election Commission, etc.
He is the most powerful man in Malaysia. Even former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad cannot touch him. Abu Kassim, do you still want to talk big?
Vlongviews: Abu Kassim's statement is very courageous and deserves support. But there is a caveat – MACC is to submit its investigation papers to the AG.
Will it end up like the investigation conducted by Bank Negara - no further action?
Wong Fei Hoong: To regain the confidence of the public, MACC should ask Najib to go on leave during its investigation.
And why did MACC said earlier that the RM2.6 billion was a donation if the investigation has not been completed yet?
Rubystar_4037: This is typical of BN politicians and their appointees - vow to do this, vow to do that.
We have been ‘hearing’ of their vows that it is almost like them singing a melody to some small children in a fanfare.
In the end, nothing gets done or some big fish will get away and only those small shrimps and little flies get caught.
Yes, Malaysian politicians, in particular from BN, have issued so many vows that the moment they made a vow, they would have forgotten about it.
Apa Nama: Abu Kassim, we Malaysians will give you benefit of doubt. But do remember that you should not takes us for a ride by repeating, "I will get to the bottom of this", "The truth will be reveal ultimately", etc.
Stop playing with nice words, actions are what we wanted to see. Even though your department may not have prosecution powers, you should reveal the truth to us as what Bank Negara governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz did indirectly .
Your investigation should reveal more information than others. With Apandi at the helm in the AG’s Chambers, make sure your investigation has more than 90 percent chance of nailing Najib.
Tan Kim Keong: You don't have to be a rocket scientist to conduct this investigation. Just follow the money trail. All the records are there and connect the dots.
Stop all your rhetoric and get to work. So what if the person investigated is the serving PM.
Victor Johan: Abu Kassim, we will only believe you when Najib is hauled to court where he will be given the chance of proving his innocence. The people's court has already made its judgment.
The Mask: Pass the investigating papers to the AG for further action, did you say? Anyone wants to bet what will then happen to the case?
Abu Kassim can growl all he wants as he knows the case will be classified by the AG as NFA (no further action).
Anonymous_40f4: Yes, Abu Kasim, please stop your ‘wayang’ (show).
The investigation on the SRC money was already completed by MACC and the charge sheet against Najib was prepared by the late deputy public prosecutor Kevin Morais and the previous AG, Abdul Gani Patail.
Your "new investigation" is just to clear Najib.
For MACC, lots of thunder and lightning but no rain
