Police have arrested one suspect in relation to a brawl at the Kota Raya shopping complex in Kuala Lumpur yesterday, and are on the hunt for 14 more alleged perpetrators.

Bernama quoted Dang Wangi deputy police chief Supt Habibi Majinji as saying the suspects are being sought in connection with the brawl involving disgruntled customers and several mobile phone salespersons.

"The suspect arrested at 5pm after the incident is a 38-year-old man who works as a parking attendant in the area," he told reporters at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters today.

He explained the altercation happened after a group of men believed to be customers expressed their dissatisfaction after claiming to have been cheated by the salespersons.

"Police will release the photographs of several suspects involved soon," he said, adding that an application for a remand order would be filed for the suspect who was arrested.

The suspect is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting and Section 394 of the same Act for voluntarily causing harm while committing a robbery.

Two salespersons reportedly sustained minor injuries and have lodged a police report over the brawl.

A video clip of the fracas was uploaded on YouTube.

The footage showed the altercation between the two parties at a mobile phone shop, with one person even hurling a chair.

The brawl comes two days after an earlier protest, led by Malay Army Veterans Association president Mohd Ali Baharom, who is better known as Ali Tinju, at the same shopping complex over claims that customers were being cheated.

This is the second such incident, with the previous one taking place at Low Yat Plaza in July.
