Kevin Morais’ youngest sibling attacks SD credibility

A brother of the slain Attorney-General's Chambers officer Anthony Kevin Morais has been reported as questioning new revelations by one of their siblings.

Umno-owned daily Utusan Malaysia reported today that Richard Morais, the youngest of the four brothers, has cast doubts on the explosive statutory declaration (SD) made by Charles Suresh Morais, 52.

Charles had alleged conspiracy in the murder of Kevin, a former senior deputy public prosecutor with the AG’s Chambers, whom he claimed was working on a case involving the prime minister and his wife.

However, Utusan reported Richard, 49, as doubting the credibility of Charles, whom he said had appeared suddenly with the information as though he was very close to Kevin, to the extent that Keven even had sent the confidential information to him.

"Isn't it weird if Kevin sent important information to him (Charles), but his name isn't even listed on Kevin's will, and furthermore Charles didn't pay a single cent for the funeral that was fully borne by me?

"Kevin was a strict person and didn't share information, especially regarding his work, including to his family. I doubt how he could have sent the information (to Charles)," Utusan quoted Richard as saying.

However, Charles, an Altanta-based businessman, contradicted Richard’s account of the funeral matters.

In his SD, Charles ( photo ) claimed their cousin Jamie from London had paid the initial bill, and he (Charles) had paid the balance “as both Richard and David were not in a financial position to do so”.

The SD also contained unflattering portrayal of Richard’s behaviour during the funeral.

Charles has claimed to be in possession of a pen drive with details of the cases his brother had been working on.

The older brother claimed the pen drive was now in the hands of an individual in the US who had been instructed to expose the contents if something untoward were to happen to Charles.

Meanwhile, Richard urged Charles to show the evidence allegedly in the latter’s possession and he also called on the police to investigate the allegations.

Richard will be in Perak today representing Kevin to receive the latter’s posthumous state award from Perak’s Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah at Istana Iskandariah, Kuala Kangsar.
