The ringgit opened higher against the US dollar today on renewed buying interest in the local unit, said a dealer.

At 9.09am, the ringgit was quoted at 4.2970/3040 against the greenback from 4.3360/3410 yesterday.

The ringgit was also traded higher against other major currencies.

It strengthened against the yen at 3.5722/5789 from Tuesday's 3.6142/6199 and rose against the British pound at 6.6157/6273 from 6.6670/6773 yesterday.

It appreciated against the euro at 4.8096/8179 from yesterday's 4.8485/8550 and higher against the Singapore dollar at 3.0357/0411 from 3.0475/0527.
