YOURSAY ‘Don't underestimate Mahathir, he has equally powerful friends.’
RM1m reward offered to expose Mahathir
Odin Tajué: Citizens for Accountable Governance Malaysia (CAGM) chairperson Md Zainal Abidin, when your house is on fire, you don't try to determine what caused a fire that destroyed your garden shed when Adam and Eve were still running naked in Eden.
You try to put out the current fire. Don't give us that rubbish about theatrics. You attend to the other one later.
Next point. You have clearly shown to us, by offering a reward for information, that you have nothing on former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad, only hearsay and speculations, but yet you are talking of suing him .
I detest Mahathir intensely, but I will not volunteer any information that will incriminate him even if I had it simply because I really doubt your supposed intention and that you are not acting for PM Najib Razak, his family, friends and cronies.
Vijay47: I can hear the crowd roaring in approval for this latest group out to establish accountable governance, whatever that means.
A million ringgit carrot to obtain evidence of the shady side of Mahathir's rule is small potatoes in the search for truth and to ensure that the guilty get their just desserts.
But why start with Mahathir? After all, his rule ended 12 years ago, not that this is intended to forget his dirty work before he rode off into the sunset. The here and now of corruption and abuse offers a much better, more effective road to follow.
Let us nab the guys who are currently fiddling with the till, and later we can turn to more distant times. I am sure you will see the wisdom of this, CAGM, since accountable governance is your primary objective and concern.
For immediate action, that little matter of 1MDB eagerly beckons.
P Dev Anand Pillai: You can't shake the old man, he has been in the game way before most of these current leaders who are running the government were born.
Don't underestimate him; he has equally powerful friends who will do his bidding.
CAGM’s reward offer is just another red herring to divert attention. Mahathir has never missed his target. Remember there is one person in Australia, who can be the game changer.
Bringon14: I think that if there is going to be a reward then it should for the person who can expose all the wrongdoings of this current administration. We all know that corruption is rife and has been so since they took over the country.
Take the whole lot of them out and not just single out the old man (for whom I have no love anyway).
Hmmmmmmmm: Indeed, why not RM1 million reward for information on each of the ministers' wealth?
If you want to root out corruption, you get right to the bottom. No half measures and targetting only a specific individual please.
And you should start with the current leaders to stop the ongoing rot. The leaders from the old regime are not going anywhere.
Hplooi: CAGM is really being disingenuous (for the less literate read "dishonest", and for the even less literate read "bodoh").
When a thief is plundering your house, of course, you go after him first not the other thief who had robbed you 10 years ago.
By the time the current thief have finished plundering, you may not be in a position to go after any thief, current or previous.
Abasir: Will Mr Accountable Governance consider offering a reward for fingering the mastermind behind the Altantuya Shaariibuu killing?
Firestone: Md Zainal, where do you get the RM1 million? That alone will tell us you are somebody's running dog.
TC Chan: Is this public relations czar Lim Kok Wing's idea? Offence is a good defence? Laughable.
Don't distract the issue at hand. What Mahathir had allegedly done is the past. What we need to do now is to nip an ongoing scandal in the bud before it blooms into a disaster for the country.
Oh Ya?: There is actually no necessity to make any offer. Based on Mathathir's perverse system of justice, he and all the ruling elite are presumed guilty of stacking illegal gotten wealth because other people are talking about it, including CAGM.
Nevertheless, thank you for the entertainment. The rakyat do require some tranquiliser to help them forget the mess that they and this ‘kangkung land’ are in, at least for a moment or two.
Ferdtan: Will Najib survive the attacks from Mahathir? Is Mahathir now getting the backlash from the ‘not-so-mild’ Najib through a manouevre using a third party?
I hope that this time the Umno will be destroyed once and for all. If it were to survive, then hopefully they will come back reformed without the past evils of using race and religion to divide Malaysians.
Kilgore: So it begins, and it's about bloody time. Just between the three PMs, there is untold billions to be recovered.
Malaysia will need the money to dig itself out of the pit they've left us in.
