Myanmar agrees to discuss the boat people crisis with regional countries in Thailand’s capital Bangkok next week, an official said.

“Some officials from the Foreign Ministry will attend the meeting next week that is proposed by Thailand, and discuss how to tackle the issue of boat people,” said a senior government official who asked not to be named as he us not authorised to speak to the media.

“But we would not accept labelling these people as Rohingya, nor labelling Myanmar as the source of the boat people crisis,” he said.
