Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan has hit out at DAP for taking him to task for his sarcastic remark that he “fears” Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.
Abdul Rahman said Tony Pua, who condemned him for saying he feared meeting Lim as the CM was “fierce and always angry”, does not understand sarcasm.
Pua is DAP national publicity secretary and Petaling Jaya Utara MP.
Abdul Rahman was responding to an article by Pua, headlined ‘Don’t chicken out, Rahman Dahlan’, published in Malaysiakini today.
The article was written in respond to a Malaysiakini report headlined ‘Rahman Dahlan fears ‘fierce, angry’ Guan Eng’ published yesterday, which quoted the minister’s remarks.
“As I predicted, @tonypua would protect his ‘demigod’ DAP boss in Penang by spinning federal housing project issue in Penang. I will respond,” the Kota Belud MP said in a series of tweets today.
“@tonypua probably doesn’t know what sarcasm meant when I said I am afraid to see his demigod boss becoz he was fierce and angry! Very funny”.
“@tonypua jangan mimpi. I never fear Lim Guan Eng or any DAP leader. I am on record exposing LGE’s double standard & substandard leadership”.
Abdul Rahman had made the remark about Lim in Guar Perahu on Saturday, when asked if he would meet Lim to discuss state approvals for federal funded housing projects.
Abdul Rahman had claimed that the Penang government under Lim had yet to approve applications by two state agencies - JKP Sdn Bhd and Perda (Penang Regional Housing Development Authority) to construct 10,000 units in Penang.
Abdul Rahman claimed the applications have been submitted to the Penang government for approval, three years ago.
Pua had said if Abdul Rahmad felt he was right, he should not “chicken out” from meeting Lim over his grievances related to those housing projects.
