YOURSAY ‘And the elected gov’t of Selangor does not know who its MB is...’
New Selangor MB to be sworn in next Tuesday
Rick Teo: The appointment of the new menteri besar (MB) of Selangor should be made public. Why the secrecy?
The people of Selangor have a right to know who the next MB will be. Is it going to be a surprise such that the palace is keeping a tight lid on the name of the new MB?
Kilgore: The state waits in suspense for the sultan to decide who will be their democratically elected leader. No irony there...
Appum: You mean the rakyat will only know on the day of the installation? Like a ‘cabutan bertuah’ or lucky dip? Will it go into the Guinness Book of Records?
PAS president Hadi Awang says PAS will stay with Pakatan Rakyat. Is it because new the MB is from PAS, and they need DAP and PKR to get the majority in the state assembly?
Siang Malam: It has to be PKR president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. It is the democratic people's choice, one who commands the majority of support amongst the elected assemblypersons. Otherwise, it is a mockery of the democratic system.
Abasir: 'People First', PM Najib Razak? No, the people will be last - the last to know the identity of the chief minister.
Whatever the outcome, let us never forget this outrage and the treachery of the turbaned and bearded lowlife. And to think they have managed to do this even before coming into power.
Commentable: This is like the unveiling of a new model of a sports car where only the designer and privileged people who engineered the whole thing will know the details.
AkuMelayu-Tetapi ABU Jugak: So much secrecy in the Darul Ehsan state.
This is what happens when men appointed to high office betray the rakyat's trust placed on them. Bak kata pepatah, harapkan pagar, pagar pulak makan padi .
Something so simple as appointing an MB (chief executive) who commands the majority support from amongst his/her peer assemblypersons is so messed up by people with ulterior motives. Next election, I will not vote for PAS.
Sleepy: I believe the new MB is Wan Azizah because of four factors:
1) No additional names insisted on by the palace.
2) PAS ulama faction decided to support Pakatan, thereby guaranteeing no majority support for Umno, for which earlier there was some hope.
3) Water agreement signed.
4) No change in statutory declarations (SDs) signed by two PAS assemblypersons although there was some noise but no action.
Ferdtan: “Azmi Sharom is a Universiti Malaya professor of law who had commented about the 2009 Perak constitutional crisis in a news portal on Aug 14, saying, ‘You don’t want a repeat of that, where a secret meeting took place’ and ‘I think what happened in Perak was legally wrong. The best thing to do is do it as legally and transparently as possible’”.
The above comment from Azmi got him arrested for sedition. From this announcement of a new MB to be sworn next week, Azmi’s concern is very relevant.
I do not want to add more to what Azmi Sharon said as I do not wish to be his cell-mate, even if it is an honour to be his friend.
Multi Racial: Something is very wrong with the whole process. How can the leaders of the parties in control of the state assembly be clueless on who has been appointed by the sultan?
Isn't it clear enough that the sultan has to appoint a state assemblyman or woman who commands majority support? Currently there is only Wan Azizah. If the sultan did not appoint Wan Azizah, I wonder what constitution we are following.
Unmasked: If you have not received the appointment letter by now, you should know that you are not the chosen one. The person who received HRH's (His Royal Highness) blessing to be the next Selangor MB is keeping quiet.
Tell the Truth: I bet you the bookies are having a field day until the eve of the announcement or even the day itself.
FellowMalaysian: I believe the sultan is a wise man and he will choose his MB after much wise thoughts and considerations.
Above all, being a fair-minded royal head of state, he will appoint the person who the rakyat will be most comfortable with. The most likely choice then will invariably be Wan Azizah.
The Mask: All must remember - this mess is caused by PAS. DAP and PKR should dissolve their alliance with PAS.
Unless the moderate leaders of PAS under Mohamad Sabu take over, PAS will always be a thorn in the the flesh of Pakatan. I cannot imagine what trouble they will cause in the choice of a PM if ever Pakatan takes over Putrajaya.
Senior Citizen: This MB thingy is of no interest to me at all. My feeling is that the effort and time spent in going out to vote at the last general election was a waste of my precious time.
There is so much of bad taste on the new MB issue that the next MB appointment is no more a news item. I consider it as another day's activity.
There has been too much of mud being splashed around that now it is time for a good bath. I don’t care anymore.
Anonymous_3f49: The elected government of Selangor does not know who its menteri besar is, can you believe it?
