Following strong objections raised by the students, the management of Universiti Malaya (UM) has decided to abolish the RM50 charge for the degree certificates issued by the university.

The UM management last Wednesday took the decision that from July, it would only issue digital certificates to its graduates and those wanting the printed scrolls would have to make a request and pay the fee of RM50 per certificate.
