YOURSAY ‘Their arrogance and insolence are an attestation of your fallacies.’
Dr M: Jais wrong, should go back to Quran
J Ng: Whoever who ordered the operation by the Selangor Islamic Affairs Department (Jais) in which officers interrupted a Hindu wedding must be sacked.
The person responsible is giving the department and Islam a bad name. There is no point talking and discussing without drastic actions taken against these 'false' protectors of Islam. Those who play politics are unfit to be in Jais.
Turvy: Having let lose the dogs of war, the former PM now regrets the carnage they cause. This nation has wittingly sanctified criminals to organise and create havoc in the name of race and religion.
But neither they nor their acts are sanctified or even remotely supported by the population they claim to represent.
Those elected to be in authority and watch over the safety of this nation and its people must act to allay the fears of the people.
Those who intruded into the wedding ceremony must be brought to account in a court of law. The state must act to perform their bounden duty.
Armageddon: Just like Jais officer must refer to the Quran, the BN government should refer to the constitution.
Kamaapo: In his twilight years, Dr Mahathir Mohamad has talked with great sense once or twice recently. As his words carry immense weight, it's so heartening.
With all the mess he created for the nation, especially in radicalising the Islamisation process, for mere political expediency viz-a-viz PAS, now he has some humane obligation do some justice for non-Muslim citizens who feel their backs are against the wall.
Hopefully, he atones in the few more years that He has granted him.
Fair Play: Once in while Mahathir is capable of saying something very insightful. Or was it the utterance of a man who could have reached his highest potential as a leader but chose to take a different path. Now, it's all about reminiscence of what could and should be.
Abasir: If Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim is not in control of Jais, he should come out and say so. He should also expose how this agency (unschooled in Islam, according to Mahathir) is funded, what its reporting structure is and whose teachings it is following.
Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim should, instead of speaking pompously about Islamic civilisation, categorically state if this trespass into a Hindu wedding ceremony is civilised behaviour endorsed by Pakatan Rakyat.
The time has come to flush out the scumbags, regardless of which political hole they are in.
RR: Today Mahathir is talking of justice versus punishment. And that he is for justice! But it was he who declared Malaysia an Islamic state.
Today with Muslims in majority with the recent importation of Indonesians and Bangladeshis, religious strife has reached frightening proportions with forced conversion of children and now bride snatching.
Apa Nama; Mahathir, the root cause for this blunder and previous one is your declaration known as 929.
On that fateful day, you say unilaterally that Malaysia is an Islamic state, which is wrong and this you knew it but pretended as not. Actually you were the one who mix religion and politics.
Now Mahathir mudah lupa (forgets easily) or pretends to have a selective memory, you try to talk like a pious person.
Foodforthought: Indeed, their arrogance and insolence are an attestation of your fallacies, oh wanton one.
Keturunan Malaysia: Insofar as saying, "Jais wrong, should go back to Quran"... I am 100 percent with you, Mahathir.
I am a Chinese with many Muslim relatives and friends and this is not what the religion preaches. This is a good example of the action of ugly people with equally ugly minds.
Rightan: It is clear Jais' action is political rather than religious in nature, out to embarrass the Selangor government in general and PAS in particular.
Both are under the constant threat of Jais' action and yet they can’t stop them, or worse still, they have to appear to go along with them for fear of offending Muslim/Malay voters.
There is no leader brave enough to rebut or condemn Jais’ action, especially among our past leaders like Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah or former deputy prime minister Musa Hitam, who have remained silent and chose to be held captive by this charade.
Gggg: It is not going to stop there unless some great leader were to emerge and undo Mahathir's curse in playing with the constitution. Who could that be?
Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah, former law minister Zaid Ibrahim, DAP Teluk Intan by-election candidate Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud, Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli, Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, former deputy minister Saifuddin Abdullah or another Malay?
Vijay47: Mahathir, nice of you to say this, after so much water has flowed beneath the fanatical bridge. You seem to concede a battle when you are the one who started the war.
You are the one who tinkered with the constitution, abetted by former MIC president Samy Vellu and former MCA president Ling Liong Sik, and held that Malaysia is an Islamic state .
Robert Lim: I am a retired government servant. It was not Dr M who brought the element of Islam into the administration of civil service but Anwar Ibrahim, the chameleon.
Go and ask any government servants in the 80s and early 90s, who is responsible for the fanatical drive to bring religion into civil administration.
David Dass: I am glad that Dr M has made his position clear on this issue. No other person alive could speak as authoritatively on the subject.
In the last few weeks, he has clobbered Isma for calling Chinese intruders, criticised Jais on their raid and detention of a woman (who was Muslim in name only) who was marrying a Hindu man in a Hindu temple, stated his position on hudud making the statement that religion and politics do not mix, and also stating his position on PM Najib Razak's suit against Malaysiakini .
Negarawan: Why is Najib still keeping silent, while even the ex-PM have said something? Where is the leadership?
