'KJ, you too were wet behind the ears'
Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin was a greenhorn when appointed a minister, said two DAP reps.
Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin was a greenhorn when appointed a minister, said two DAP reps.
They were responding to his criticism of the DAP candidate for the Teluk Intan by-election Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud as inexperienced .
"Before he took his post as the minister of youth and sports in 2013, Khairy too did not have any experience to serve as a minister.
"Does that mean our Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak had made a wrong decision to name him as a cabinet minister?" Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching (right) and Bukit Gasing state assemblyperson R Rajiv said in a joint-statement today.
Since then, the duo said Khairy has been a minister for a year.
"If he thinks he has performed well, what makes him think that our Dyana cannot deliver if she is given the mandate to serve?" they asked.
Yesterday, Khairy said BN candidate Mah Siew Keong was more experienced and that the Gerakan president would also have access to federal agencies if he wins.
'Not totally raw'
Commenting further, the DAP reps said that Dyana was not completely raw either.
They noted that she has served as the political secretary of Gelang Patah MP Lim Kit Siang. who is "undeniable as one of the best role models for parliamentarian."
By boasting that Mah can better tap into BN government, the duo said that the two-termed Umno Youth president has proven that he was as "uncouth and arrogant" as his predecessors.
"By falling back to this type of 'I help you, you help me' politics, it is evident that Khairy, despite being a rising star in UMNO and a popular leader among young Malaysians, has failed to cultivate new politics that emphasizes good governance, fairness and equality," they said.
They said that this is where Dyana is not at all like Mah or Khairy.
"Unlike Khairy, Dyana has vowed to embrace new politics, ie breaking racial and religious barriers and finding the perfect formula for a Malaysian “teh tarik, which is loved by all”," they said.
Dyana previously used the " teh tarik for all " analogy to say that like the love for teh tarik, Malaysians must find a common ground in order to break the racial and religious barriers.
