PKR has urged Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to put aside politicking and let opposition lawmakers work with the government on the MH370 crisis.

Calling it the right democratic and transparent government practice, PKR vice-president N Surendran said Najib should meet with Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim to safeguard national interest and fend of flak from the foreign media.

Due to lack of advancement in locating the Boeing 777-200ER aircraft after 11 days, the Malaysian government has come under scrutiny and criticism from the US and Chinese media.

Irked by Hishammuddin's decision

Surendran's unity call comes as he is also irked by acting Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein's decision to meet only invited BN reps and exclude Pakatan Rakyat.

"This shows Najib's complete disregard of good democratic practice and transparent government.

"It is crucial for the opposition to be consulted in times like these to enable the country to face this challenge in a strong and united manner," the Padang Serai MP said in a statement.

Surendran noted that if the opposition was not kept in the dark, then Pakantan Rakyat can help the government to avoid the release of contradictory information which has drawn flak.

"The nation's vital interests and global reputation are at stake; this is no time for party politicking," he added.
