Why can't Syabas put up a clear disruption notice?

VOXPOP ‘A notice that had different versions. The water outage can be of any duration, one day or 13 hours per day until Dec 22. All are accepted.'

Syabas' water disruption notice leads to confusion

voxpop, vox Hmmmmmmmm: The people who look after your water don't even know how to write an unambiguous notice. I shudder to think what they actually do in the plants.

ONG: Official announcement by Syabas as advertised in the Dec 13, 2013 edition of The Star (Metrobiz) reads as follows:

"There will be a temporary shutdown of Sg Selangor Phase 2 water treatment plant ... starting from 8.00am, 17th December (Tuesday) until 9pm, 17th December 2013 (Tuesday). The maintenance work will be conducted for 13 hours while the water disruption is expected to resume gradually within 24 hours after the work is done and it may take five days for full recovery."

The announcement is very clear and straightforward to me. Included was a list of areas affected. I assume similar announcements would also have been published in non-English language mainstream newspapers.

Gggg: I hate Syabas but I think the notice was pretty clear. Shutdown is on Dec 17 but full restoration of water supply for all affected consumers may take up to six days for all to get back the normal water supply.

Boeyks: What do you expect from Syabas? A notice that had different versions to confuse the consumers. The water outage can be of any duration, one day or 13 hours per day until Dec 22. All are accepted and even then water is still coming in for some areas.

Basically, Syabas does not know their system and also not interested to find out since very soon they will be amply rewarded by the government for selling to the state. So why do anything more other than to cause confusion, problems to consumers and collect their fat pay?

The chairperson was paid RM18 million last year for all this fiasco and is laughing all the way to the bank.

Ruslan Bahari: Really poor communication strategy here. What consumers needed to know was just when it will start, duration of disruption, and when services will resume. Even that they messed up.

NH Gong: All notices, all signboards, everything from BN, are designed to confuse and frustrate everybody else... That's their specialty. To make you confused, if not angry.

Klang Valley people better go back to the kampungs, start collecting rainwater and sell to the folks who are stuck in Klang Valley.

Ani Arope: Even my Jewish pal could say 'Alhamdulillah'

Vijay47: I share the many comments in Malaysiakini admiring the steadfastness and philosophy reflected by Ani Arope. But I hold no such respect for the other VIP present at the book launch - Leo Moggie.

In my book, he is and will always be a Judas to his own people. Many years ago, perhaps the early 1990s, he established Parti Bangsa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS) in a mission to end the years of abuse and exploitation his people had suffered under CM Abdul Taib Mahmud and gang.

There has talk and hope that PBDS would actually overthrow Taib's PBB in the state elections to be held. But as things turned out, his party did not succeed.

Yet on the very night itself of the elections results, this shameless spineless turncoat announced that PBDS would align itself with PBB. And now, after 20 years, the Dayaks are still mired in their misery.

Adam Adil: I met former Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) Ani Arope many years ago and was "apprehensive and afraid of the man" as he is a no-nonsense man and many in TNB were afraid of him, too.

He was quick to appreciate those who are "sincere and brave to stand up and propose smart ideas" that save money or reduce cost and improve efficiency for TNB".

Hermit: Surely Ani Arope is a visionary leader, unique to himself only, leaving imprints which will be remembered by many friends and followers. He mastered Tamil language so that he could get into the heart of rubber tappers, when he wore a planter cap.

He not only lighted up the country when he wore a TNB cap, but for the love of TNB he fought alone against the mighty IPPs (independent power producers). He was a transparent boss for he invited all union leaders to his weekly management meeting.

Before he was removed, he planted the seeds of Uniten to light up the mind of young Malaysians. Ani also founded Yayasan Tenaga to provide financial assistance to the poor students studying at Uniten.

Ani, you are loved by almost all Malaysians and we pray that you and your family will always be blessed by the Almighty.

Black Mamba: The Jews used "Alhamdulillah" way before the advent of Islam. So it's a word that belongs to all monotheistic faith and it means nobody has a monopoly over Allah.

James_3392: A true-blue and towering Malay who was outplayed by ‘celup' Malays, otherwise this towering Malay would have been able to contribute immensely to nation building, Alhamdulillah.

Cala: When the ruling elites have no moral ground to govern, they would have to manufacture something to stay in office. What a better way than to rely on "race, religion, and language"?

By appeasing to the dominant-majority (the Malays) that their interests are under siege from the dominant-minority (the non-Malays), these ruling elites are licensed to do anything in enriching themselves.

In history, Hitler said the German race was a superior race and the Jews were dirty and should be condemned. So we see six million (6,000,000) Jews were killed by him in World War Two.

Hitler's ally Japan bought the same idea. Its emperor, too, told the Japanese that they were the decendents of "sun god" and so they were superior to all other races. What happened then?

Three hundred (300,000) Chinese were massacred by the invading Japanese armies when they took Nanjing in China alone. Indeed, from young, the Japanese were taught that the Chinese were "sub-humans".

Problem Problem Problem: My Bangladeshi workers ‘salam' me every morning and I replied back with ‘salam'.

Why have we reached such a level of indirect hatred against one another? All for individual political gain to be in power by playing on religion sentiment. Remember it can be a double-edged weapon.

Kacang: I am blessed by reading this article to come to know that there are still some true gentlemen like Ani Arope still existing in our beloved country.
