YOURSAY 'Did someone forget to inform the PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) in Kuching about the 18-point Agreement?'
Cops frown on 'Allah' banner at Iban Christians function
Lamborghini: Sarawakians, and especially Iban Christians, it is time for you to stand up and fight for the freedom of religion promised to you under the 18-point Agreement in 1963 and the 10-point solution by PM Najib Razak two years ago.
Ibans form 52.6 percent of the state population and if Sarawak has 43 percent of the total Christian population in Malaysia, this makes you the bastion of Christians in Malaysia.
For the sake of the present and future generations of Christians, you must make a strong stand and fight. All your Christian brothers and sisters in Malaysia are standing with you.
Oriole: Did someone forget to inform the PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) in Kuching about the 18-point Agreement? Would the cops also like to crash Christmas programmes and stop the celebrations and worship?
Folks, it looks like Malaysia has taken a step backward into the time of the Roman arena and the persecution and torture of Christians.
So while Putrajaya sits dripping honeyed promises from its forked tongue, they have unleashed the wild, brutish creatures to do what they would not want to be seen doing.
Headhunter: Why should the police be so high handed when even the PM said the Court of Appeal's Allah ruling doesn't apply to Sarawak and Sabah?
The police action will only make the Christians even more determined to stand their ground and rightly so. It only goes to show that the BN doesn't intend to keep their words.
Anonymous #37634848: Did you ask your Christian delegates from other countries whether they use the word ‘Allah' in their communions or if this word ‘Allah' is in any of their bibles?
Freedom of religion is practicing what is traditional and integral part of the Bible, not inclusion of usurped and twisted teachings offensive to Muslims.
I take it that all religious groups in our country have full freedom to practice their own religions without adulteration. Everyone need to reciprocate and apply empathy for the continued well-being of the nation.
Kairos: Dear Anonymous 37634848, for your information one of the speakers at the Iban conference was from Egypt. He told us that in the Middle East, the word ‘Allah' is used in their Arabic Bible.
In other words, right at the heart of Arab land in the region of the birthplace of the Prophet, Christians address God as ‘Allah'. How come only in Malaysia, the Malays think that ‘Allah' only belongs to them?
Clearly all the assurances and promises so far that the recent Appeal Court ruling only applies to Semenanjung is bullshit and pure political rhetoric. When the rubber meets the road, it applies to everybody and to the whole country.
What is confusing is that the CM of Sarawak himself has given the personal assurance that freedom of expression of religion by the native indigenous Sarawakians is guaranteed. So who is calling the shots? The PM or the CM?
If the state gives in to the demands and dictates of the federal government in this matter of religion, then before long Ketuanan Islam will ride roughshod over East Malaysia.
Clearly, the ultra Malay radicals in Umno is thumping their noses to the Christian natives of Sarawak right at their doorstep.
What are the politicians in Sarawak who are suppose to represent the interests of the people who elected them going to do about this?
Odin: I believe there are three senior ministers in the Sarawak state government, that they are all Ibans and that they are all Christians.
Not even a tiny little squeak seems to have emanated from the mouth of any of them. That tells us a lot about them, does it not?
Kim Quek: Religious persecution seems to be a political game that has gained favour with Umno.
First, the Christians are banned from using the word ‘Allah', a word they have used from time immemorial; now even fellow Muslims (of the Shiite sect) are hunted down, all for the sake of prolonging Umno's political hegemony.
So, Iban Christians in Sarawak should not be shocked to be at the receiving end of such treatment; rather they should ponder long and hard whether their hitherto unflinching support to the ruling coalition dominated by Umno has contributed to their present sufferings.
Cogito Ergo Sum: During this nativity season, the naivete of Sarawak Christians is astounding. You have reaped what you have sown at GE13. On the other hand, the authorities will be applauded by their brethren, they think.
Omega: Don't feel too bad Christian brothers and sisters, God's heart is infinitely big, He will give each of you His personal gift, there is really no reason to get too upset over this matter.
It is the law of nature that if you lose something today, you will gain something else the next day.
