YOURSAY 'It is unfortunate that Najib used the Umno assembly to defend his wife instead of stopping her from using any government money and facilities.'
Rosmah: Use of private jets for work, not fun
Ferdtan: Very impressive indeed - Rosmah Mansor was on the whirlwind diplomacy to Qatar, Dubai, Sri Lanka and finally Bangladesh.
This pales in comparison to US Secretary of States John Kerry when he was newly appointed, who went on around-the-world diplomatic sprints to find solutions for world peace.
We now propose the PM's wife to be a permanent representative to the United Nation, the high title currently held by Hussein Haniff as ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary, as she is influential among foreign leaders.
With her abilities to have powerful contacts around the world, Malaysia will be on world map. Kerry should come to Malaysia to personally learn from her the fine art of diplomacy.
However, before going around the world, we beg Rosmah to apply her expertise nearer home - go to Tawi-Tawi, Sulu, to negotiate with the suspected Abu Sayyaf gunmen and seek the release of the Taiwanese tourist who was abducted from a Semporna resort in Sabah.
This time we have no objection with her using the government jet to fly to the Philippines as it is definitely a national service. Any seconder?
Odin: Ferdtan, I second your motion. The problem is, she won't bother. Remember who the tourist in question is.
Chipmunk: Time and again, Rosmah is proving that she wears the pants in the house and her husband is just a puppet. Little does she realise that she traveled in style at the expense of the rakyat.
She was invited by Qatar to give a keynote speech at the women's business summit so I feel the Qatar government should be the one to foot her travel expenses.
Also Rosmah, why did you not schedule your events based on normal flight schedules as these events were not of national security interest?
Faz: Rosmah will never understand the principle of good governance, even in a thousand years. As the law says, she does not have the locus standi, being just the wife of the PM. Period.
LKT: Rosmah and Najib must have really been rattled by all the stinging criticism so much so that she feels the need to give her opinion in a friendly interview.
Based on her comment in defending her trip to the Middle East, she just doesn't realise that it is all about accountability and transparency.
The fact that she did not see it as an abuse of power when she flew solo on taxpayer-funded state asset shows that her morality level is not of the highest standard.
This is a very weak attempt to defend the indefensible. History will definitely not be very kind to her.
Kingfisher: The Bar Association in Malaysia should be able to advise if what she did in incurring taxpayers funds on a private initiative is extra-constitutional and outside the ambit of the responsibilities/obligations and prerogatives of the legitimate functionaries in the executive, legislative and judiciary of the federal government.
If that be the case, can an individual or a like-minded group of taxpaying citizens institute legal course of civil action for the alleged misdeed?
Fairnessforall: You are not an elected representative of the people, you have no right to use the private jet for your work and make us pay for it. If you have work to do, do it at your own expense.
Are you saying that if the people have to travel for work purpose, we can use the government-funded private jet? You should just shut your mouth and stay at home and be a good wife, and don't try to be the PM.
Cala: If Rosmah is so interested to represent Malaysia in world politics, let her take part in the general election under Umno. If she wins, she could be nominated by the party to join the cabinet.
It's time Najib puts his foot down.
Blitz: Please don't try to do the work meant for the ministers. Your work is being the wife of PM, not his deputy.
Pacific.rim: "I shared with them the successes of Malaysian women who are the pride of the nation," said Rosmah.
Unfortunately we are not proud of you but rather embarrassed instead. We would be proud of you if you make a point to stop this practice - an abuse, is an abuse, period.
KnockKnock: Hadith Al-Bukhari: "Every one of you is a guardian and everyone will be asked about his subjects. Imam is a guardian. He will be asked about his subjects.
"A man is the guardian of the persons in his household. He is answerable about them. A woman is the guardian of her husband's house. She will be asked about her responsibility. The servant is the guardian of the articles of his master. He is answerable about this responsibility of his."
This word contains an ocean of meaning, but underneath it all is the sense of responsibility, the sense of having to appear before Allah and to account for one's actions.
Rosmah, do you think your actions justify the "hadith" when you are not at all legally licensed to be responsible and answerable to the use of the private jet? Please, madam, do not drag Allah's name to make the false right.
Rosmah defends the indefensible over private jet
