YOURSAY 'PM Najib's 'love' can fly in a private jet for his own peace of mind. But he must pay for the costs himself.'
For PM's peace of mind, 'love' must fly in private jet
Xtcher: From what is reported of the "great" speech by Federal Territories Umno delegate Affandi Zahari, two points stand out glaringly.
First, it appears that in Umno only the PM loves his wife. Other men in Umno don't or not quite enough. Now that explains why there were or are cases of MBs and MPs going to Thailand so frequently.
Secondly, since there's a circular to require anyone going on government official business to use Malaysia Airlines (MAS), the delegate by saying that the PM's wife's safety will be at risk, implies MAS is not that safe.
Trying to apple polish the PM, the delegate has given a tight slap for the Umno males and another for his own national airline. Well done.
Faz: It's useless to argue with no-brainer. We are talking about accountability for public money which must be properly managed on behalf of the rakyat.
If this is the best that Umno Baru can put up, it won't be long now that Umno Baru will be thrown aside.
Their logic for their actions are out of this world. Even apple polishing has its limit before it becomes ridiculous.
Ferdtan: Is this the standard of Umno delegates debating at their general assembly?
Judging from what Affandi said, we hope the rest of the other delegates are not just as dumb as him. God save Malaysia if they are as these are our local leaders from the ruling government.
A plane can fall from the sky in an accident, whether it is a commercial airline or a private jet. What makes him think that a private jet is better maintained than a commercial jet?
Didn't he know that any maintenance of projects or buildings that the BN government handled - outsourced to private contractors - usually collapsed or failed?
Just ask the Terengganu state government, they know well as the roofs of their stadium (Stadium Mizan Zainal Abidin) and mosques (Kampung Tebauk Mosque and another in Hulu Terengganu) had collapsed?
In hitting out at critics for asking PM and DPM to fly commercial airlines, Affandi is simply too dense to understand that the complaint is about PM's wife using the private jet for personal use.
As to the other nitwitted matters raised by him, such as the Seri Perdana's massive electricity bill and the love of PM for his wife, we surrender. He is beyond redemption.
If this is not said at the highest assembly for the biggest political party, Umno, which is ruling over our lives, we could have laughed it off.
Changeagent: PM Najib Razak's 'love' can fly in a private jet for his own peace of mind. But he must pay for the costs himself, not get taxpayers to foot the bill.
There is no parliamentary provision for the PM's wife to enjoy private jet privileges by herself, whether on official business or not. The only exception is when she accompanies the PM while he is away on official duties.
LKT: Rosmah is not entitled to use the state assets on her own. It is an abuse of power, plain and simple. She is just the wife of the PM without any executive power, which means she is not entitled to represent the country on official business on her own.
Furthermore, her trip to the Middle East was in her personal capacity, which means she cannot use the jet on her own. A wrong cannot be made right just because someone else gave the green light.
Geronimo: "Can you imagine the emotional strain Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak will endure should something unfortunate happen to his wife when flying in a commercial airline?" asked Affandi.
This must be one of the most crappiest excuses ever given by a government leader. If Najib cares so much for his wife, then let him foot the bill from beginning till the end.
In short, charge it to Najib's personal account. Don't 'love' your wife at the rakyat's expense. Do it at your own time and on your own money.
It is a crying shame for a PM to behave that way. Once again, the rakyat have been taken for ride ... er, I mean flight.
JTC: I suppose that is why they plunder the country - just to keep their wives happy.
BN Cyberpooper: Most people don't know this, but the executive jet is available to every citizen provided the following application form is completed and submitted to the cabinet for approval:
Name, race, purpose of travel. Please answer yes/no to the following questions: 1. Is the trip important? 2. Are you representing the country? 3. Is this an official* trip? 4. Are you concerned about your safety? 5. Are you okay with the exorbitant cost (to be paid for by others)?
*Open to interpretation. Please submit all applications to the Deputy Prime Minister's office for approval.
Cheong Sai Fah: Oh yes, my wife will by flying to Los Angeles on MAS economy tomorrow. I am worried sick already.
