Malacca CM 'forgives' Chinese for letting down BN
LogicalMalaysian: What is wrong with these half-baked jokers? If you think that the Chinese should vote for you, it is very simple, just make sure that there is only one party called Umno and people should only mark for Umno.
If the non-Malays have been voting for BN consistently since Merdeka, even when the Malays abandoned it in 1999, find out the genuine reasons why they turned against Umno. It is the Malays who will abandon Umno in the next election and you can go and figure out why.
Katusha: Well, Malacca Chief Minister Idris Haron, you must ask the Chinese whether they are willing to forgive your "Janji semua Barang Naik ditepati" party first before you unashamedly offer to forgive them.
CHKS: You only forgive if you have done something wrong. The people who voted against BN have done nothing wrong. They are just exercising their rights. Voting against BN is not a sin. Idris, you don't try to create fear among the hearts of the people.
There is nothing to apologise for. And there is nothing for you to forgive, and your forgiveness is not accepted.
Only if BN is truly capable, gets rid of all corruption, cronyism and racist policies, can the people consider voting for BN again. Idris, it is actually your heart which is fearful. You are fearful that you will continue to lose support, even among the Malays.
Continue-The-March: Lest we forget, the non-Umno Baru people will always remember this episode.
In the 11th general election (GE11) in 2004, when Abdullah Ahmad Badawi replaced Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Malaysians in general gave Umno Baru-BN 90 percent of the seats in Parliament. Power went to Umno Baru's head and we have Hishammuddin Hussein and Umno racist groups going berserk.
In 1999, without the non-Malays' vote, Umno Baru would have become history. We have given Umno more than enough opportunity to redeem themselves. We look forward to GE14 to kick Umno Baru out.
Tan Kim Keong: Idris Haron epitomises a delusional narcissist and megalomaniac all in one. He can forgive for all we care to lionise himself. Choosing who to vote for is an inalienable right for any citizen.
We are prepared to "forgive" him for being a racist and lacking knowledge in democracy and human rights.
So if he wants forgiveness, forgiveness we shall give him. What's absolutely important is that he be unprejudiced as a Malaysian.
Wira: Idris Haron, the Chinese don't owe you an apology, so there is nothing to forgive. However, you racists should be apologising to all informed Malaysians in general and to the Chinese community in particular for callously hurling such hurting statements like "Apa lagi Cina mahu?"
Cogito Ergo Sum: Actually, the Chinese forgive you for making such a silly remark. You can't help it.
Sakit Hati Ku: Why the sudden change of heart, the Malays without the Chinese have lost their way? No more "towkays" to grease these Umno leaders for having a good life?
We do not need your forgiveness, matter of fact, we will forgive you... for all your corrupted activities.
Radio Taxi: No, no. I think what he is saying is that he is willing to forgive MCA and Gerakan.
Boiling Mud: Why don't we wait for the next GE and find out who will be asking for forgiveness?
Fair Play: So, finally he found out that flexing his muscles ain't going to work - never had, never will. Maybe he is asking for forgiveness from the Chinese Malaysians but his ketuanan DNA just won't have it. Besides, what would the other ketuanan think of him - begging?
Podeh: The Chinese of Malacca should not, on any terms, accept this Idris Haron's forgiveness. Instead the Chinese Malaccans should offer to forgive Idris for his idiocy and allow him to continue being the CM of Malacca despite his pea brain.
Anonymous#007: Another idiosyncratic statement by BN. There is nothing to forgive. Enforcing one's right to vote is not a crime or morally wrong. In fact, all the voters should be commended for taking the time to vote, which shows they are patriotic citizens of Malaysia.
Lin Wenquan: What a condescending and cocky statement from a little dimwit. The Chinese don't owe Umno-BN a damn thing.
They pay taxes. They don't get favours gratis like Umno-BN leeches, except for some cronies. They are exercising their democratic rights to chose the government they want.
What about the Malays who rejected his predecessor in Malacca? Now Idris "wants at least 60 percent of the Chinese community to return to the BN" in return for forgiving the Chinese.
If Umno wants their support, simple indeed - earn it. Umno screwed it up when the Chinese supported BN during the Anwar Ibrahim episode when there was split among the Malays which actually threatened Umno's very existence. That endorsement was taken for granted.
The Chinese became convenient whipping boys at every Umno assembly henceforth for Umno-BN's failures. So he should wipe off that smirk from his face. The Chinese don't owe him an apology and he can keep his magnanimous gesture of forgiving the Chinese.
Anonymous #02382443: By the same token, can we ask Pakatan to forgive those who voted against them?
Tempua: My maths is very bad. Chinese population about 20 percent but BN rejected by 53 percent of the population. So who are the other 33 percent?
JTC: We do not want your forgiveness. We want all of you jailed for your corruption.
