In Malaysia, the majority is protected from the minority

YOURSAY 'In all fairness, how could 9 percent of Christian population influence 60 percent of Muslim population in Malaysia?'

UN official says Malaysia should reverse 'Allah' ban

your say, Yoursay Toonarmy: Freedom of religion is guaranteed in our constitution, although this has not prevented Umno and right-wing NGOs from doing their outmost to undermine such freedom.

Faith is within each of us and any attempt to trade mark any reference to God in any religion changes absolutely nothing, and in this regard, Umno has failed miserably.

True Muslims are far from being easily confused and clearly understand that Islam does not teach Muslims to undermine other religions but to show understanding and compassion to fellow humans.

Onyourtoes: (United Nations special rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief) Heiner Bielefeldt, actually that decision of the court did not fan tension in Malaysia.

The majority of Christians know in their hearts no one can take away their faith in Jesus Christ no matter how they were prosecuted or harassed.

I believe the majority of good Muslims also know their faith in God cannot be strengthened by being unreasonable to others for that is not God's character.

So Christians and Muslims actually know the problem is with the politicians and the state. So in that regard, you are right.

1Malaysia2Bangsa: In all fairness, how could 9 percent of Christian population influence 60 percent of Muslim population in Malaysia?

Islam is propagated in schools, over radio and TV, in mainstream papers and through loud speakers calling for the faithful to come for prayers and in some areas, even the sermon is broadcasted.

Never in world history has the majority been protected from the minority. Most developed countries have laws to protect minorities, but in Bolehland we need laws to protect the majority. Malaysia Truly Boleh.

Chipmunk: 1Malaysia2Bangsa, you are right. But if we look back, it clearly shows that the one who is of little faith in Islam are none other than Umno leaders themselves.

If they can change their faith by just reading the Bible with the word ‘Allah' in it, than I can say my God is great.

Fairnsquare: There is a misconceived apprehension by some that the 30 percent non-Muslims, and 9 percent Christians in particular, might confuse the 70 percent Muslims and destablise Islam.

This, while the minority religions have never had such a fear. Even the more mature Muslims do not see this as a threat.

But the politicisation of the religion has caused the confusion. The UN's perspective is correct but politics seem to have encroached into religion and made ‘Allah' exclusive to the majority. This is just a case of bullying.

Amateur: Bielefeldt, don't you know under BN (being manipulated by Umno - Ultimately Make Nation Outdated), the government latest propaganda is "endless impossibilities"?

Malaysia need not have to abide by the UN's human rights prevailing in the global community on Earth. Perhaps BN is planning to take the whole nation to the moon.

Sabah church: Honour our right to freedom of religion

Odin: Sabah Council of Churches president Bishop Thomas Tsen, you are absolutely correct. But you have two serious problems in Malaysia.

One, you have a prime minister who is an unprincipled person besides being a serial liar; and two, there are Muslims who are arrogant imbeciles.

These morons illustrate their rotten brains and pathetically shallow knowledge by making stupid comments on Christianity. You can even see that right below.

Anonymous #37634848: Bishop Tsen urged the government to "urgently rein in extremism in our midst because religious intolerance has reached a dangerous level".

In my view, it is extremism to arrogantly usurp and relentlessly agitate to conquer and use the word ‘Allah' whereas this word is not found in any Bible.

The Alkitab was translated from Kim James version of the Bible and the latter text also did not contain the word ‘Allah'. Thus, it is not integral part or tradition of Christians who refer their God as Jesus Christ and/or Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

‘Allah' is a revelation in AlQuran and its attributes are clearly defined. Any deviation from that is offensive to Muslims.

Christians clamouring to use the word ‘Allah' is tantamount to creating "religious intolerance". Therefore, both "extremism" and "religious intolerance" point to sheep of the bishop. Please rein them in.

Hajile Leumas: The Christians in Sabah and Sarawak are being persecuted for something they have been doing even before the formation of Malaysia in 1963. This is unacceptable and must be rectified.

It is only honourable for the BN government to fulfill the promises made to the Christians in these two states. Otherwise they will have to be responsible for the outcome of their betrayal.
