VOXPOP ‘Now I see why there is no shadow cabinet. Can you form an actual cabinet when the time comes? Why not divert all your energies to this?’
Don't sideline us too, PKR tells PAS and DAP
Onyourtoes: What is this ‘sidelined here’ and ‘sidelined there’? Coalition politics can only exist if there is compromise and a common policy framework.
The most important thing is that those entrusted with positions and authority must take into consideration and be sensitive of the interests of all, irrespective of their lack of representation under certain circumstances.
All state governments, whether DAP, PKR or PAS, must first and foremost be competent, sensible, know resource utilisation, economic management, and social development. Always strike for inclusiveness and avoid endless parochialism, bigotry (holier than thou), racism and jingoism.
Do not follow the bankrupt ideas of BN; trust me, it will only work on ignorant/indoctrinated citizens (the number of which is getting less by the minute). Pakatan leaders must provide the leadership to bring the people together to believe in a common cause for a common Malaysian nation.
Don’t trick them, don’t entice them and don’t sweet-talk them. No double talk please. Starting from now, tell the people exactly what and how Pakatan is going to do for the people, once they have secured federal power.
Identify opportunists and depraved politicians in your midst, isolate and chop them off quickly before they become a major problem. No one is indispensable.
Senior: Now I see why there is no shadow cabinet. The question now is this. If you can't have a shadow cabinet now, can you form an actual cabinet when the time comes? Why not divert all the energies to this rather than to infighting each other now?
1 Melayu 1 Bahasa 1 Malaysia: PAS has a lot of similarities with Umno. This is the reason why they are not welcomed in Sabah and Sarawak. I would suggest that PAS stay out of Sabah and Sarawak because even the Sarawak Malays do not welcome PAS. So PAS, do not spoil Pakatan chances of marching to Putrajaya next GE14.
Anonymously: DAP too was sidelined by PAS in Kedah until everybody got frustrated. Their loss of Kedah is a good lesson on arrogance which they must learn.
OH YA?: The voters did not vote for Pakatan to be like this. They better get their act together or risk a debacle in GE14.
Ontoi: PAS, DAP, PKR, look and talk to the person in the mirror first, before complaining.
2LAN: One seat and they want to control the whole government.
Anonymous #70881335: Now you know why a shadow cabinet cannot be formed. They will start quarrelling and bitching and not agreeing on anything. Sad. Pakatan still needs to grow up for the sake of Malaysia, to get rid of the corrupt BN.
Lao kor: PKR leaders should remember, your support from the voters is not permanent. If you are fighting for your party’s interests in this way, you will be chucked out coming election. Think rakyat first, party interest should be secondary and personal interest should be last. Remember that!
Settle your differences among yourselves quietly. Openly making demands is not a good tactic.
Jeff Ooi shouted at for 'kucing kurap' remarks at market
ACR: I think some have misconstrued what the Jelutong MP Jeff Ooi meant. Let's be honest, would junior staff be able to give the information or address the queries the MP wants?
What is so difficult for the head of department or someone senior to deal with him? The MP works for his constituents.
What was MPPP council president Pattahiyah Ismail thinking when she assigned junior officers to deal with Ooi? Isn't she trying to be funny?
Wira: Ooi lacks emotional quotient in dealing with people whom he considers lacking. This is not the first time he has received bad publicity because of a careless moment.
He would make a great strategist or a troubleshooter to the government where his ideas can be tapped. But I do not consider him a good politician.
Doremon: I would blame the MPPP president, do you ask a office boy or clerk have a discussion with the PM or minister? It is an insult and does not follow protocol.
What is the MPPP's agenda or former PKR state wanita chief Aminah Abdullah’s agenda? I don’t think Jeff is to blame. If he can’t solve the issue, at the end of the day, the rakyat (people like you and me) will blame him of being inefficient.
But the actual fact is MPPP and its president is to blame. I see in Penang and Selangor, the city council senior staff are not ‘loyal’ to the government of the day but are more sympathetic to the federal government or Umno. How to work with such staff which will sabotage you?
My question is this - has Aminah an agenda or is being used by Umno or BN? If she is not a PKR member, I give the benefit of doubt to Ooi. I believe if Aminah is a PKR member, her actions would not be the same.
Fogbom: Grow up Jeff. Just because you used certain abusive terms to each other as children, does not mean you should carry it over to adulthood.
As an MP, be polite and deferential always, you were rude to her and you won't apologise - this makes it worse for you. Just a quick "minta maaf" in private, and the matter is closed.
The Malays are forgiving. But please mean it when you do it. As for yourself, be thick-skinned when receiving criticism - you are in the public arena.
Just don't say hurtful things to others. It’s extraordinary that you can justify it by saying "this is what we did as children - I didn't do anything wrong!" You are an adult. Act like one.
Southpaw: If these civil servants can treat an elected MP with such a careless attitude, can one imagine what kind of bulls**t the normal folks have to take from them.
SenyumUnta: Dealing with these town councils, state or federal departments can be a nightmare, except for the Income Tax department, or JPJ.
One can understand his frustrations, more so as a MP trying to resolve issues. Still as an MP, I would expect him to handle it differently from us on the streets.
His anger should be directed to the council president and not the staff. On the other hand, who is this Aminah? She was ex-PKR. She heads a Malay NGO. Isn't she a racist?
She just wants some cheap publicity, as her she is not helping to resolve issues.
Bamboo: This a clash of gaji buta (easy money) mentality of civil servants with the 'action' orientated DAP-led Penang government. Many PKR men andwomen haven't shed their ketuanan Melayu genes. When they can't win an argument, they would throw the race card in.
Senior: When you fight with a drunk you descend to the level of the drunk. So Jeff, no more fighting.
Jean pierre: It's laudable that the MP is an action oriented and an efficient state government representative who demands the same from others. But as a public figure and a people elected representative, he should also be humble and be seen to be humble.
Ally Meme @R1: Insulting? Really? If you are one of the little people having to deal with council officials or those in the civil service, most of the time you will want to scream as well. There are good ones but many are just plain lousy.
Lao kor: Jeff, continue your action-oriented attitude. Government servants who are servants of the citizens, must carry out their duty efficiently and effectively, especially those heads of departments (HOD). Citizens today have no more tolerance with lackadaisical attitudes in the public service.
HODs in the government service should always remember that they are only public servants to render good services and not be masters of the people in any way.
R1: Hmm, I too, find Jeff’s statements insulting. Just because you are an MP doesn’t mean you are above others. You, too, are elected by the people.
