YOURSAY 'Much like the MCA's advertisement in The Star before GE13 - ‘A vote for ulama faction is a vote for Umno.''
Penang PAS threatens pullout from gov't posts
Ferdtan: PAS state deputy commissioner Fauzi Yusof, the timing of your lambasting the Pakatan Rakyat government, even calling for the review of its relationship with the opposition coalition, is suspect.
We know the PAS party election will be held this weekend. This style of campaigning followed the same strategy as the recent Umno party election where they played up issues of race and religion.
Immediately after the election the Umno ministers, especially the winning candidates, suddenly stopped their racial and religious diatribes against the non-Malays and non-Muslims.
It was as though the issues raised are no longer important. Have you heard any outrageous statements from the infamous home minister recently? No. So what has changed?
Fauzi, we can guess which faction in PAS you belong to. Obviously, it is the one which supports Umno-PAS unity. Why bother with the call to review PAS' position in Pakatan?
Just wait after this weekend's result; if the ulama were to win big, you can get PAS out of the coalition. Much like the MCA's advertisement in The Star before GE13 - "A vote for ulama faction is a vote for Umno."
PAS members, this election is all about whether you want to be with Umno or with Pakatan.
Hello: Penang PAS is demanding for posts that are not commensurate to the state seats they have won. If that's what they want, why haven't they appointed any DAP/PKR people in their Kelantan state assembly or village and security development committees (JKKK)?
Don't they remember the cooperation given by DAP in Perak, where they were given the MB's post even though the majority of seats were won by DAP? Are they asking for DAP to be a servile member of Pakatan?
Adsertor: PAS must decide whether it is a team player and committed to a united opposition partnership. If they are, they must discuss their grievances within the Pakatan framework. Shouting, demanding and threatening in public does not win the confidence of the rakyat.
ThisLandIsMine: Under the Chinese-dominated DAP, Islam will not be given due respect. But then everybody knows that PAS without DAP will be rudderless.
LogicalMalaysian: It's all about greed for power, using religion as an excuse. Does Fauzi mean the Islam professed by someone from PAS is different from that of an individual from PKR or Umno?
P Dev Anand Pillai: From the looks of it, they may come in different uniforms but the mentality seems to be the same. If PAS is really looking to get non-Malay support, then it had better stop these antics.
Remember, since 2008 we choose to struggle for a new Malaysia - one which the Pakatan parties will respect everyone as equals and not being dominant over one another.
And Penang still tops the list when it comes to aid given to the Islamic affairs and religious schools from the state coffers as mentioned by the PAS deputy president No 2 in his ceramah.
Ah Hoe: Fauzi wants PAS to be given "full powers" to appoint, without interference.
Why can't PKR Muslim Aduns have a say in the appointment of the Penang Islamic Affairs Council (Maipp). Why can't other Pakatan members have a say in the appointment of JKKK, including those in PAS-contested constituencies?
Penang PAS is attempting to form its own dictatorial and non-accountable ‘government' within the Pakatan state government.
Nyaduung: The state government is afraid of Trojan horses in PAS, that's why.
BanzaiL: PAS, you are lucky that Pakatan allies campaigned for you in the by-election in the recent Kedah state assembly seat of Sg Limau, otherwise on your own, you would have lost.
Don't be so demanding as your survival also depends on the Pakatan spirit of cooperation.
SenyumUnta: A state government is a state government. All administrations are under the state government. What do you meant by "unreasonable interference"?
PAS should realise that Umno still controls the Malay-majority seats in Penang. How about if PAS also shares more seats with PKR and DAP in Kelantan, Kedah, Terengganu?
Dingy: Fauzi talks as if he is the PAS president.
Homesick: In my opinion PAS is a liability to Pakatan, except for a few leaders. These leaders of PAS should take action against dissidents like Fauzi. Tell them to put up or shut up, or better still go and join Umno.
Grraaawwwnnn: Fauzi said: "If indeed this is true, it is against the ethics and spirit of Pakatan. This is regrettable."
What a load of crap, he talks and demands in public without knowing the truth, Umno-style.
Multi Racial: PAS benefitted the most from joining Pakatan. It is obvious their future will have to be with Pakatan. They have in the past joined Umno and following that, the party lost its relevancy.
With Pakatan, PAS is one of the three influential parties. They also benefitted by improving their image to being seen as moderate and sensitive.
Maybe it is about time PAS should consider looking at some of their leaders. These leaders are still behaving as if they are living in the past and just refuse to move forward.
Gggg: PAS, just accept the reality. If you want an Islamic government then get out of Pakatan. I just want a peaceful, modern, corruption-free and secular government.
Ontoi: PAS, you lost Kedah, now it seems you want to lose Penang too.
Geronimo: Over to you, Penang CM Lim Guan Eng. I think the demand by Fauzi is quite reasonable. They may hold just one seat, but the religious influence could be overpowering comes election time.
Right now, perception is everything. If this is kept up, it will provide Umno Baru the fodder to attack the state government for lacking the esprit de corps. So, do what is right.
