Muslims under attack, this time it's from cyberspace

YOURSAY 'Why in Allah's name did Mahathir invite Bill Gates from the Silicon Valley to visit him here and spread the use of evil tools?'

Friday sermon wages war on 'cyber attack' on Islam

your say, YoursayAbasir: Why does Islam have so many global enemies and why is it these enemies are always smarter and more inventive in the creation, spread and use of technology?

Why are Malay Muslims (and Malay Muslims exclusively) so easily confused? Why is their belief in Islam so easily weakened?

And why did PM Najib Abdul Razak visit Facebook and Google and take photographs there with the kafirs and infidels to commemorate his visit?

And why in Allah's name did Dr Mahathir Mohamad invite Bill Gates and his evil friends from the Silicon Valley to visit him here and spread the use of evil tools?

Lim Chong Leong: Muslims in Malaysia are under attack again, this time from cyberspace... or is it just another Umno bogeyman like the Christian-communist-Chinaman using the ‘Allah' word, just to keep themselves alive.

Anak, Bangsa, Malaysia: The Islamic Development Department (Jakim) doesn't have the faith in Islam itself, I suppose. If Islam is preached and practised well in all its true sense, then there is no need to worry whatsoever.

Paul Warren: Isn't this expected? As long as Islam remained within the Muslim territories, it was basically left alone to prosper.

But when it started going into the west and through events like 9/11, asserting itself to the host countries for reliefs and dispensations, imposing what some see as sacrifices being made in order to accommodate Muslim sensitivities, it just becomes a matter of time when people begin to study the very source books from which Muslims get their authorities from.

Only thing is they do not submit to the interpretations of the ulama, but they make their own interpretations of the Quran and the Hadiths. The Muslim narrative of Islam's history is now given a different perspective as well. One that may not be all that sympathetic or friendly.

What more, the godless who are just as well read on Islam are taking up the fight with no apologies. There is really nothing that can be done now to stop this.

MockingYou: Islam, like any other religion/ideology/way of life, is neutral. It is the proponents (practitioners) and opponents (usually the victims) who define the relationship.

The perceived attacks now may be a result of past actions of attacks on others. The golden rule and silver rule are simplified to "do not do unto others what you don't want others do unto you". This is found in all religions/ways of life.

Onyourtoes: MockingYou, I like this one better: Do to others as you would have them do to you.

YF: The greatest enemy of the Muslims are the ‘Muslims' themselves. A good fruit does not rot from the outside, it rots from within. Careful of the wolves within Islam. The same applies to all religions.

SenyumUnta: There is no need to 'wage war'. Just 'haram'kan Internet with a fatwa because it weakens believers' akidah. Replaced it with UmnoNet.

My Opinion: Christians educated themselves with both theistic and atheistic philosophy or other worldview philosophies. This will help us understand more.

CS Lewis once wrote: "To be ignorant and simple now - not to be able to meet the enemies on their own ground - would be to throw down our weapons, and to betray our uneducated brethren who have, under God, no defence but us against the intellectual attacks of the heathen.

"Good philosophy must exist, if for no other reason, because bad philosophy needs to be answered."

Kawak: I just wonder whether a religious sermon should advocate love and compassion rather than promote anger and hatred against imaginary enemies.

Freethinker: They are chasing their own shadow again. They are so scare and insecure about their religion, thinking everyone is out to get them.

This is all artificial threat created by those people to control you and keep you busy. How do you think straight when they are taking you for a ride. It's not 15th century anymore.

Well Thats Fantastic: Why not oppose science and all that science has revealed? We are governed by fear and we are fed by our religion with a side order of fear.

Sunnyd: The Pandora's Box is already opened and there is no turning back. Science and the indominable human spirit cannot be denied. Religion in all forms are being questioned. Especially the ‘believe me or go to hell' sorts.

Vijay47: Does the Internet also confuse the Muslims and weaken their iman? Only in Malaysia, of course.

Slumdog: The sermon prepared by the Jakim preaches hate, suspicion and instability and is based on defending Islam against imagined enemies. It pits Muslims against other races and panders to the right-wing Umno Muslims.

Instead of open, frank and harmonious dialogue with non-Muslims, it arrives at dubious conclusions that Islam is under attack, but from whom?

Basically: What irks me is Jakim, if I am not wrong, is a government agency that relies on public funds - funds paid by our taxes and used to run us down.

I do feel sorry for our Muslim friends - to have to go to mosque to listen to this drivel when I should be communing with my God.
