YOURSAY ‘This minister had not spoken for a while now. As usual, when he opens his mouth, a load of rubbish is sure to pour out.'
Only 15pct of Pakatan's 'rubbish' manifesto rolled out
Concerned Rakyat: If Pakatan Rakyat had managed to achieve 15 percent of their 2008 manifesto as claimed by Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, I would consider that to be a major success.
Why? Because Pakatan had no control over the federal government and constantly faced roadblocks to all their recommendations for improvements.
Anonymous#007: This is one of many (visible) reasons why Malaysians need to change the Najib Abdul Razak administration. They have proven - time and again - their lack of capacity to deal with issues in an intellectual and rational manner.
Contrary to popular belief, the opposition (maybe BN, depending on the state) plays a crucial role in government. It serves as a check and balance against the ruling coalition/party.
We know too well how the opposition - which in this case is Pakatan - gets thrown hurdles every step of the way. Without the hurdles and BN playing up racial and religious sentiments, Pakatan would have surely achieved more.
The Najib administration has forgotten that they work for the rakyat, which is represented by MPs in Parliament. The government is caretaker of the rakyat's land and resources. It has the responsibility of ensuring these are utilised in a manner that maximises the benefits for the rakyat.
Each year, the government is responsible for hundreds of billions of ringgit collected in taxes and in kind. It is time to change the government when those in charge start to feel 'powerful' instead of 'responsible'.
Karma: Zahid, still Pakatan representatives got re-elected and the coalition increased its popularity in 2013. We are not stupid.
The majority of the items in the opposition manifesto can be achieved only if Pakatan takes over the government. Anyway, Penang and Selangor did better after 2008.
Geronimo: BN's manifesto is worse than rubbish. Ever since 2008, what have you implemented except to benefit yourselves and the cronies around you.
For heaven's sake, Zahid, an empty vessel like you should learn how to shut up when you have nothing good to say.
Onyourtoes: It does not matter even your allegation was true - that only 15 percent of the Pakatan's manifesto was implemented. We believe that when Pakatan gains federal power, all the right policies will be put in place.
We believe all the manifestos will be diligently implemented. As it is, we have wasted another five years of moronic rule. You ain't seen nothing yet about the full potential of this country which will be unleashed when Pakatan gains power.
Happy Malaysian: Those here who support Pakatan cannot live with the truth. They have been fed lies and will continue to accept it simply because they are Anything But Umno (ABU). This is like the old English saying "Pulling the wool over your eyes".
Siang Malam: Research? What research, Zahid? Remember those days at the concourse of Faculty of Arts and Social Science in Universiti Malaya? If not for some of us helping you with photostat notes, you would have failed.
Not Smart: This minister had not spoken for a while now. As usual, when he opens his mouth, a load of rubbish is sure to pour out.
It is common sense that those who in control of the federal government have the power, authority and resources to channel funds to their favoured projects and states. In spite of such a situation, the progress in Penang and Selangor speaks for itself.
Furthermore, the votes for the Pakatan-held state governments had increased at GE13 compared to GE12.
Versey: If I'm not mistaken, before the last GE, didn't BN has difficulty in coming up with an election manifesto but have to wait till Pakatan came up with one for BN to "copy"/"cut and paste"?
As such, maybe Zahid doesn't know what is a manifesto, hence expecting the opposition party to fulfil their GE manifesto?
Given that Pakatan only managed to form a few state governments, despite facing a federal government that absurdly gives little consideration of the benefits of its rakyat and constantly putting up roadblocks to the Pakatan state governments' recommendations for improvements, it still managed to achieve 15 percent of what they promised (as Zahid had said), is this not an achievement on Pakatan's part?
How about comparing it to one ministry, with full support from the federal and state governments, yet it can't solve the crime epidemic with existing laws and facilities but has to resort to a draconian law, and despite that crime is still rampant, least to say guns and police patrol cars could mysteriously "drop" into the sea?
Truly Malaysian: Yes, BN fulfilled all their promises - reduction of petrol and sugar subsidy, implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), building the Warisan Tower, etc.
CiViC: Doing 15 percent of something is better than nothing of nothing, but yet nothing of nothing is better than doing worse than nothing, which is what BN is doing.
