VOXPOP 'In any case, will the government give them enough facts and figures for alternative policies or guidelines? '
'Walk the talk before asking for shadow cabinet'
Malaysian 001: Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, don't ask for a shadow cabinet just for the sake of it. Your intentions are just to use it as fodder for debate in Parliament for Umno. To Pakatan my advice is; we don't need a shadow cabinet and when Pakatan wins, because then we can name the real one.
Spot on constitutional expert professor Abdul Aziz Bari. The essence of a two party parliamentary system has never been understood by BN (Umno). Based on the rumblings from the various Umno big wigs like DPM Muhyiddin Yassin, Zahid Hamidi and even former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, such progress will make them lose power forever.
Senior: Free press? Debate? Umno wants to keep you ignorant and misinformed and disinformed. And they did say debate is not their culture. As for the shadow cabinet, will the government give the shadow cabinet enough facts and figures for alternative policies or guidelines?
If you want everything to be classified under the OSA (to protect misdeeds?) then don't taunt the opposition for a shadow cabinet.
JBond: Malaysia is currently run by a 'shadowy' cabinet anyway. So why do you need a shadow cabinet?
Ksn: In other words, Aziz Bari, we need to create the fundamentals to create that atmosphere now denied to the opposition and the country by the Umno Baru government. Khairy has a long way to go to learn all that and lacks the influence and power for those decisions.
Kgen: BN fails to recognise the opposition as part of the political system by treating them as pests and troublemakers, yet Khairy has the cheek to demand a shadow cabinet. Abdul Aziz is absolutely right.
OMG: Khairy's motivation is pretty obvious; he is trying to drive a wrench into Pakatan's unity.
Zen: A crystal clear explanation by Abdul Aziz Bari. It's up to Umno to take up the challenge or keep running away.
Pacific.Rim: A junior minister talking on behalf of the government when he should be talking about the ongoing Merdeka Cup or the Squash Olympic 2020 campaign. How foolish of him.
Appum : To be objective, I do think Khairy has the intellect and potential to be a good future PM for Malaysia. Only problem is, like what former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad once pointed out, the bigwigs and warlords of Umno sees all such young people as potential threats to their own positions and therefore will not nurture and give these youths a chance to develop their potential.
So what do smart alecs like Khairy do? It'll be political suicide if he so much as uses his brains correctly. He joins them, since he can't beat them. So he becomes one of them and comes out with silly ideas so as to be noticed as the party election is around the corner.
What a big pity and a loss to the nation.
Good men: With the racist 'Utusan Umno' mouthpiece given carte blanche to sow hatred, any naming of a shadow cabinet by the opposition, regardless of who its shadow ministers are, would just be giving Umno the field day they want.
It's not necessary to name a shadow cabinet, given the present circumstances. We know that the opposition has many competent members who would perform admirably in government, unlike the crop of nincompoops we have from BN.
Senior: The present cabinet is already the biggest in history, and Khairy still wants a shadow cabinet.
Shanandoah: KJ became a junior minister out of sympathy. Despite being Umno Youth chief he got no cabinet post earlier. Guess you know who saw to it that he was sidelined for so long. However, he must watch out for the man who wants him displaced again.
Now he wants a shadow cabinet from Pakatan to show his debating skills to prove he is worthy to be included in Najib's cabinet.
DevilsSlaughter: KJ is an aimless shooting rifle. Is he trying to hurt someone with his stray bullets? KJ's noisy rifle's only hope is to get some cheap attention.
Syabas activates emergency plan in Klang and Shah Alam
Mushiro: This Emergency Response Plan (ERP) in Klang and Shah Alam is exactly what will happen when Umno cronies are allowed to operate a monopoly. High costs, breakdowns and inefficiencies. And the CEO of Syabas is being rewarded with a salary of RM500,000 per month for these blunders.
Swipenter: Nature provides Syabas with rain free of charge. The government provides them with existing infrastructure and pirates the whole thing to them. But they do nothing but give themselves big fat salaries to sit on their fat behinds to fart at us consumers.
There is no upgrading and no preventive measures to improve the distribution of clean drinking water to us since the whole business is pirated to them.
Best they could do when a crisis develops is to issue a red alert emergency and ERP and appoint contractors to fix the problem/crisis. Any dumb fool is capable of doing that.
The Mohican: The main pipes supplying water to my house and the neighbouring ones have not been replaced for more than 32 years since I moved into my house. Isn't it a must that the galvanised iron pipes be replaced every five years?
Nothing has been done, so the rakyat have to suffer. The federal regime leaders are only good at feeding their cronies and their own pockets.
Oonarmy: Umnoputeras are taking revenge against Selangor voters for having the audacity to give Pakatan a strong two thirds majority in Selangor and consign the political careers of former MB Khir Toyo and Selangor Umno liaison chairman Noh Omar to the sewers.
Okeylah: Now we know that Syabas is far from 'syabas' in their work.
