VOXPOP 'Ku Li, please get real! Asking BN to give up corruption is like asking Mahathir to zip his mouth.'
Ku Li: Get rid of graft if you want to help rakyat
Ferdtan: Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, the soundbite of talking about fixing the economy and getting rid of corruption is commendable. However, it is nothing original; we all know it.
In fact we, the common Malaysians, are directly suffering from the consequences of the bad management of economy and widespread corruption. You, a well-provided prince, will not understand our plight.
You offer us words of wisdom. So what? We can even give you more. Who are in power now? BN, isn't it - your party and government? So by association and doing nothing about it and only offering sweet words, you are integral part of the problem. No?
Aries46: Ku Li, please get real! Asking BN to give up corruption is like asking former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad to zip his mouth. And declaring assets of the executives alone will not suffice as corruption is so widespread and our corrupt are masters in stashing away their loot.
In fact, the long-suffering people have tried every means possible to rid the scourge even to the point of mass exodus from the corrupted BN regime in 2008 and 2013 but to no avail.
Corruption in its various forms and its related ills are so prevalent and entrenched throughout the administration that it has become second nature, hardly touching the conscience of those parasites that live by it.
Under PM Najib Razak's watch, corruption has come to such levels that despite imposing every means of taxation on the people, there are moves to further burden the people with tariff hikes and GST (Goods and Services Tax) and whatnot.
And the unkindest cut of all is Najib's part-withdrawal of oil subsidy as it affects the poor and middle income earners most.
Quigonbond: Wrong, Tengku, that's not the first thing although it is a necessary thing. The first thing is to treat the rakyat more important than treating cronies, meaning all lopsided agreements (that does not constitute corruption, but certain to constitute dereliction of duty care, acting with reasonable skill and competence befitting leader of a nation, and/or abuse of power) should be revised, especially those with IPPs (independent power producers) and toll highway concessionaires.
Then proceed with open tenders for all significant government procurements. And close down on useless programs like national service and BTN (Biro Tatanegara).
Homesick: I hope Ku Li contests in the coming Umno election. But I doubt he will get anywhere. Umno Baru is beyond repair. Majority of them are so corrupt and busy enriching themselves.
Do you really think they want to disturb the hornet's nest? Or kill the goose that the lay the golden eggs. However, it will be good if he contests and wins. At least we have hope if he does.
EvenSteven: Ku Li, it is known to all and sundry that the principal cause of our economic woes is corruption. No need to state the obvious but to ask the ministers to declare their assets, I'll eat my hat without salt if any of them dare do it.
Which minister is not a multimillionaire? If any of them should actually declare their assets, I dare say none of them will be able to reasonably account for their immense wealth.
Anyway, wishful thinking is not a crime - or at least not yet a crime - so you can say or wish what you like. Cats will sprout horns if ever your suggestion is taken up.
Sorry to say Ku Li, I am not at all impressed by your so-called "solution" to the problem. It has been uttered many a time before to no avail.
Lover Boy: Ku Li asks for anything but do not ask for the impossible from Umno.
Double blow for migrant worker cheated by '6P agent'
F1: Why must the government appoint agents to handle 6P legalisation programme when there are a whole lot of civil servants in the government offices have nothing better to do and taking wages? Why can't these be dealt with in some special counters in the Immigration building?
YouAreNotAlone: You have to understand that if the civil servants do the work themselves, they only get the application and processing fees, which go to the government.
If a third party is involved, they earn extras - the same processing fees that go to the government and an additional sum, which goes into their own pockets.
SS Dhaliwal: This is a double whammy for these conned immigrant workers as they have applied for the 6P amnesty programme so as to legalise their stay here but when it takes so long for them to get recourse, as in the case here, their visas would have expired making them illegal and thus eligible for deportation.
Hence the culprits behind this scam, i.e. the unscrupulous agents, and those in the Immigration Department and Home Ministry get off scot-free.
Lamborghini: This is a scam by scums who bring shame to Malaysia and misery to the poor immigrants. These scums should be the ones arrested, not the poor victimised immigrants.
Let justice prevail and let the wrongdoers be punished and the innocent victims be set free, not the opposite. God is watching.
TheSilentMajority: Every one of these 'initiatives' to solve the countries woes have led to blatant cheating and scams. Be it illegal immigrants, UNHCR refugees, maids, labourers, etc.
The people in authority then pretend they have no idea what is going on. This smells of scams involving people in power. Someone is always well poised to take advantage of the misery of these poor people and profit from it.
I am ashamed to say this is how this country works.
Justice Pao: The web of corruption and cheating by unscrupulous agents with collaboration from civil servants from Immigration Department and the Home Ministry in the exploitation of these poor foreign workers is prevalent in Malaysia.
This involves people high up in the chain of command. Which is why there is always 'NFA' (No Further Action).
Harapanbaru: Among the worst side-effects of a feudal culture is that the sense of natural justice becomes obliterated after centuries of might as right.
Pirate kings and brigand chiefs have little time for silly notions like ethics, decency and fair play. They grab what they want - and if you disapprove, their henchmen will knock your teeth out (and rape your daughter for good measure).
Nothing has changed even in the 21st century. It appears Malaysia has reached its expiry date as a banana monarchy.
