Has Najib bought Waytha's silence?

YOURSAY 'What about the MOU signed before GE13? Does it include a clause that Waytha should not open his mouth no matter what the government does?'

Toe the line, Najib tells Waytha

your say Psycho: In all, three ministers, a deputy minister and the prime minister have voiced their discontent with deputy minister P Waythamoorthy (for speaking out over the Nibong Tebal shooting ). This has never happened in Malaysia's history.

This only proves one thing. Waytha is a no-nonsense person and the government knows it. That is the reason the government wants him on board so that they can shut him up and dictate terms to him.

That won't happen. Waytha has not and will never toe the line or kowtow to anyone. He will fight from inside. In fact, when you look at it, Waytha should be commended for being bold and Umno cannot shut him up as what the ruling party has done to MCA, MIC and Gerakan.

Keep the pressure on, Waytha.

Onyourtoes: Please don't try to justify Waytha's continued existence in government. What were the agreement and scheduled dates of implementation for the Hindraf memorandum of understanding (MOU)?

If they can ignore the constitution and the original intent of the New Economic Policy (NEP), you think they will care two hoots about the MOU?

To Waytha and all his sidekicks you must know by now why you were appointed senator and deputy minister (remember double pay, perks and pensions). Najib neutralised you and you in turn destroyed the whole Hindraf movement.

You will not resign now, even if Najib slaps you on your face. You see, it is very simple - if you are a man of character, dignity and principle, you would never have entered into negotiation with a party known for its treachery and racism.

Now that you have tasted the good life and with pensions pending in three years' time, I am sure you will not resign.

This is who you are and I believe they have judged you correctly. From now on, even making hypocritical and politically correct statements is beyond you. I may not be as well known as you, but I have seen it all, my friend. Our history is an endless cycle of spineless leaders selling out.

Ferdtan : Toe-the-line means ‘shut-up.' What has happened to the usual Umno line when in the past powerful Umno leaders say something stupid?

The PM and his deputy used to defend such cases as his or her personal opinion and did not represent the official view. So why Waythamoorthy wasn't allowed to express his personal opinion?

We guess as much, that he was included in the cabinet as a trophy - be seen and not to be heard. Understand, Waythamoorthy?

Pemerhati: Waytha is now between a rock and a hard place because if he quits, it will give Najib an excuse to renege on the MOU and the poor and marginalised Indians will get nothing. If he does not quit, he will be accused of becoming another MIC type of lackey.

But if he stays, there is a possibility the poor may get something even if a fraction of the MOU is implemented. Hence Waytha should stay on and rebut any unfair criticism. He should only quit when it is clear that Najib will not fully implement the MOU and two years before the next GE.

Bumiasli: If Waytha should toe the line, so should Najib. What about the MOU signed before the election? Does it include a clause that Waytha should not open his mouth no matter what the government does?

If not, then Waytha should challenge this in court. I suggest a constructive dismissal on grounds of harassment and inability for him to perform due to interference. Then sue the government for compensation.

Progressive: When Umno ministers do not toe the line, PM Najib Razak says nothing. When former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad does the same, Najib says nothing. When Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali spews venom, Najib says nothing.

But when Waytha says something, Najib says he should "toe the line". How do you bring about reform by toeing the line?

Indians are facing institutionalised racism, both in the public and private sector. Toeing the line will not get you anything, Waytha. Except something for yourself.

AngryBird: The writing was already on the wall and yet Waytha did not see it. Wretched Umno has got your community's votes and now you are told to toe the line. You sold your soul to Najib and see what has happened? This is the man who talks about 1Malaysia.

Raja Chulan: So what now, Waytha? Najib has used the MOU paper you signed on to wrap his nasi lemak. This may be a first time for you but not the first time Indians have been conned.

Indeed this may be a lesson for you, but at a huge expense to all Indians yet again. A golden opportunity to throw out Umno for good at the last GE was dearly lost, due to your naivety and foolishness.

Hplooi: This perfectly illustrates the point of the Hindraf-BN MOU. The fundamental cause of the Indian problem is not addressed. The MOU programme probably throws money on some big ticket items.

As long as the core issues are not addressed, whatever programmes (including increasing the quota for Indians in matriculation) will only be window-dressing. It's the same as what MIC has been doing for the past 30 to 40 years.

P Dev Anand Pillai: Dear Waytha, enjoy the perks, enrich yourself, free your elder brother if you can, get some good contracts and build your firm before you complete your tenure as a senator.

The Malays will never buy your story. They wanted the Indian votes and they have got it now, so your blueprint will remain blue.

MIC, PPP and the rest have been submitting memo after memo for decades and there has been very little progress. That is why the revered former MIC chief S Samy Vellu had to start a parallel government for the Indians, run by the MIC but that too was under the benevolence of Umno.

So until and unless the Malay mind changes, Indian leaders will always be 'mandores' - a term which was very famously propagated by your followers.

BTN: ‘Padan muka' (serves you right), Waythamoorthy, and the Indians he represents. He has been thrown out and stabbed in the back, but still goes to Umno to work out a pact.

When will these people ever realise that a racist will always be racist, whichever way they call it? 1Malaysia is only for Umno and its members.

Rku020: It has been the same story for the last 50 years. When a BN component party speaks up they are told shut up and toe the line. When Umno warlords speak up there is silence.

How on earth are you going to change anything from within, Waytha? Your blueprint is not worth the paper it is written on. BN component politicians continue to toe the line while enriching themselves.

Your position has become untenable. Let's see if you are a person worth our respect or whether you will continue to be a running dog for your lords.

Anonymous_3e7d: The Indians are stepped on and kicked about because of idiots like Waytha. How do you expect to work with a racist, corrupt, murderous regime?

You want to change them from within? Not till hell freezes over.
