YOURSAY 'The police have become shameless school bullies. OCPD, go fight someone your size like the triad gangs and not nine-year-old students.'
Parent: OCPD's denial of student questioning is a lie
Kingfisher: The aggrieved parents should be unrelenting in their pursuit to name and shame the OCPD (Officer in Charge of Police District) whose despicable and cowardly act of questioning children and then lying about it will obviously bring ignominy to the PDRM (Royal Malaysia Police) as a whole.
They should also consider taking grievance procedures through civil action and if appropriate, refer harassment and trauma culpability to relevant United Nations conventions.
Ferdtan: We take the words of a nine-year-old schoolgirl anytime than believing the word of Sungai Buloh OCPD Junaidi Bujang.
Anyway, there were 10 parents who made the similar complains that their children were "harassed" by police. The police have become shameless school bullies.
OCPD, go fight someone your size like the triad gangs and not nine-year-old students. The reputation of the police is really down the drain.
Aries46: OCPD Junaidi Bujang seem to be no better than the racist SK Seri Pristana HM (headmaster) Mohamad Nasir Mohd Noor when it comes to telling lies.
My question to Junaidi is what is the position of the number of reports lodged against Mohd Nasir? And under what investigation are you questioning the students? Is it police SOP (standard operating procedure) to question students without the presence of their parents?
Junaidi must bear in mind that Mohd Nasir is not the victim in this matter. It is the students who were prevented from using the canteen under the pretense of renovation and forced to have their meals in the shower room near the toilets.
Oriole: There are several worrying developments and it is surprising that concerned parties have not picked up on this - the rights of the child as well as concerned citizens who stand up for their children and their families are being compromised.
There is clearly criminal intimidation against these parties who voice their grievances against the authorities. This school is clearly a disgrace to educational principles and this HM should be booted out. And yet the authorities, including characters from Umno and PDRM, seem to be colluding with the HM to bully the children and their parents.
More media agencies, human rights monitors, especially those who work on children's issues, should be asking questions. Where are voices raised in alarm at this new level of bullying in this country?
So much for patriotism and ‘merdeka' in this nation. Where's the ‘merdeka' when Malaysians are being bullied in their own country?
Swipenter: This incident shows up clearly how degraded and devalued are our institutions have become, and how institutionalised racial and religious discrimination is playing havoc in our lives.
In any self-respecting society, the HM would be disciplined and demoted, if not sacked, for his actions. Why involved the police?
Now we are also seeing the teachers, the HM and the police on one side of the fence and the victimised students and their parents on the other side. It is telling us more than what meets the eyes.
The whole incident could not be dealt with objectively and impartially in the first place. It is also an ugly manifestation of our society that is polarised along race and religion.
These are just two of the burdens left to us by Dr Mahathir Mohamad's administration where he singlehandedly:
1) Destroyed the trust we have in one another, replacing it with institutionalised racism and religious intolerance.
2) Devalued our educational and police institutions.
JustAMalaysian: I do not see how this issue should ever involve the police. It should only have involved the Education Ministry.
In this case, I think the police could have spent their time doing better things than be used by some politicians or NGOs for their agendas. What the police have done amounts to abuse of power, as well as harassment and intimidation.
Zulkefli Ibrahim: Let nature takes it own course. The headmaster did the right thing. The shower room if properly cleaned and managed is suitable for meal. What's wrong with that?
This is nothing compare to a non-Muslim who do not allow Muslims to pray and even get sack for praying. In my personal experience working for a Chinese company, I was asked to go for lunch during the fasting month and by knowing I am fasting, these people go to a non-halal restaurant and make me see them eat pork and I have to be there to accompany them.
Ask any Muslim about how we are being treated and eating in a shower room is nothing compare to it.
ACR: In reference to the above comment, no company I know forces its staff to go for lunch. In fact they will be happy if you are in office even during lunch time.
We don't need more lies to be added to muddle this Sungai Buloh saga. The fact remain the Education Ministry and police are ignoring memorandums and reports submitted by the parents for obvious ‘ketuanan' policy reason. Nothing else.
Not Convinced: Zulkefli, you can go tell your story to Utusan Malaysia . I'm sure they will put you on frontpage and make you a hero.
Anonymous #42402094: Is this turning into a racial issue? Whatever happened to our sense of right and wrong? Can someone in the cabinet bring this issue to the cabinet meeting this week and correct the matter.
How can we talk about unity and racial integration when such gross misdeeds as intimidating students is allowed to take place in school compound with teachers' and worst, the HM's knowledge?
Saintonthego: That's why the police have no time to go after criminals because they spent their time chasing nine-year-olds. Instead of resolving the plight of the students, they are questioning them.
P Dev Anand Pillai: Now the regime seems to be taking on children. How low can we go?
Wouldn't it have been easier for the HM to do what the gracious HM of a secondary school in Shah Alam did, which is to apologise for telling non-Muslim kids to ‘balik China and India'.
The fact is a complaint from a Malay government official far outweighs that of the non-Malay parents. That is what we have come to - superiority of race and class.
