YOURSAY ‘We shall stay in this country, and for those who think that they can trick us into leaving, they better think again.'
Are hardliners trying to scare us into migrating?
Onyourtoes: Nathaniel Tan talked about gaining power through elections and how the dynamics have changed because it will be another long wait before the next one is held.
But the biggest culprit is not the elections but the electoral process. We all know Pakatan Rakyat would have won if the elections had been conducted fairly and freely.
So the fight is not just during the elections but the whole electoral process. If we don't get that resolved, Pakatan will never win.
That is why the fight must go on even after the elections - through 505 rallies, court petitions, et cetera.
But so far I know, we are getting nowhere because the fight is against the whole government establishment - from the police, Registrar of Societies (ROS), Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), the judiciary to the Attorney-General's Chambers.
I believe if government institutions have stayed completely neutral, we would have a new federal government by now despite Umno-BN having "won" the 13th general election. I agree that the people must stay focused and leaders (full-time politicians) must continue to galvanise them.
MockingYou: Spot on as usual, Onyourtoes! This has set me wondering if the next Bersih rally would turninto a clash with extremists, and the 1969 script being played out with a different outcome.
An unintentional Malaysian Spring, hmmmmmmmm? Let's hope this doesn't come to pass as the losers will be Malaysians, as one wise commentator put it.
Anonymous #70881335: First and foremost, we need strong political leadership to set the country right. And Najib Abdul Razak and his gang of incompetents are losing the plot.
In this Information Age, we need to think and act fast and decisively. Najib, with his silence, is letting the hardliners in his party run amok. And who loses? All Malaysians, bumiputera or not.
Senior: The hardliners do not realise that with emigration there will also be less tax, and more and more zakat . There will come a time when there are not enough taxes to run the costly state expenditures. Is that why religions are politicised?
Fair&Just: What's wrong with emigration when one can afford it? It's better to make plan to emigrate than to linger on and suffer the oppression, suppression, deprivation and discrimination and be splattered at the sideline by the wrath of God when the retribution happens.
CAT Lover: Excellent piece by Nathaniel Tan.
Alfanso: Yes, the author is right. The last paragraph is the choice we have to make. If one takes the choice of migration and once in the new land, would it not occur to them that a similar situation would cause them to choose leave again.
Well, how long would you want to run? Now the advisers to the BN think they are great with their strategy, but pray and believe that whatever man plans, God will decide. So they think God is on their side. How foolish can one be?
MockingYou: Aiyoh you, very naughty lah . The previous piece said don't do this, don't do that (maybe I read it upside down) and now you go for the jugular.
But I'm all ears (or eyes to be precise) for better ones to come after this good piece. There will be no closure until "M" gets his just desserts served cold.
Simplecitizen: All the talk about national unity and peace has been binned in favour of promoting racist policies and ensuring that the rich and powerful maintain their status quo.
If mass migration is what Umno idiots want, let them have the cake. I can't wait to see the economic implosion that will ensue once all good hardworking Malaysians head for greener pastures where meritocracy is not only preached, but is a way of life.
All this whilst waiting for the next general election. I'm plain fed up with the nonsense happening every day.
BTN: The problem with non-Malays is that they keep harping on migrating when some good-for-nothing politicians or racists as you called them, utter seditious words.
We all know the Umno government does not have the will or refuses to take action against any of them as they are their lifelines or votes when it comes to election time.
This country belong to all races. The effort the non-Malays put into building this nation into what it is today can never be taken away from them.
The blood and sweat that all of us shed and patience when it comes to being mocked for the colour of our skin makes us stronger as a person and race.
We shall stay in this country in which all of us have a share, and for those who think that they can trick us into leaving, they better think again.
