YOURSAY 'What a sad day. Our government and police only know how to pick on petty issues and bully people in the name of religion.'
Dog trainer remanded for a day over Hari Raya video
Myrights: I don't understand where the insult is. All that I see in dog trainer Maznah Mohd Yusof's Hari Raya greeting video is a person trying to demonstrate her love for dogs, which is also a creature that God created.
The message I got from this video is about love and forgiveness. Now Umno has turned it around to be about insulting the religion. Umno is the source of Malaysia's problems, and that is why they need to be kicked out.
Baiyuensheng: A day's remand? For what? There is no justice in this country, they just ‘suka suka' applying law according to their own interpretation.
Maznah should sue the government for illegal detention. How can we trust incompetent Umno for running this country?
Kesong Sono: Why make a fuss over Maznah's video only after three years? You may find something else even more insulting to various religions in cyberspace if you want, but why only punish this dog trainer?
Pisang Goreng : Why does it matter that she loves dogs? It is all utterly irrelevant. The whole issue is absurd, a complete non-issue.
Yet people are troubled by her actions and have gone especially out of their way to become offended.
Frankie Tan: This is a very strange and weird reaction indeed over the video, and it comes from the top.
How and in what manner someone chooses to celebrate one's festival is entirely his or her own business. Who are we to tell or judge?
Be it with cats, dogs, it is entirely their business. After all, they have to answer to their gods when the time comes.
There are endless problems out there waiting to be addressed and solved, like high cost of living and the dangerous crime rate, yet our leaders are focussing on petty and minor issues to divert our attention.
VP Biden: This is nothing but a plot gone wrong perpetuated by some right-wing Umno-loving NGOs and the rabid Utusan Malaysia .
They must have believed it was done by a non-Muslim youth and they wanted to turn this into another ‘Malays under siege and insulted by the kafir pendatangs' issue.
But alas it has turned out that it's not, and in order to look good and portray this as a non-racial issue, poor Maznah has to be the fall woman. A classic case of ‘Melayu tipu Melayu'.
Rayte: What a sad day. Our government and police only know how to pick on petty issues and bully people in the name of religion. We have more serious issues like crime in the country, why can't they focus on those instead?
Yoda: There is so much crime in this country, and you have cops taking this woman from Kuala Lumpur to Segamat to be charged, for what I don't know. How stupid.
2zzzxxx: Don't these people have better things to do than to persecute an innocent person while they are not bothered about the real criminals?
Look at the number of people who have been shot dead lately and they continue to persecute this woman who loves dogs.
Anonymous_3f15: This is ridiculous. Only in Bolehland could making a video with dogs and be charged under the Sedition Act. They should go watch the National Geographic documentary 'The hunting hound of Arabia' .
MM MM: The most obedient dog is the Bedouin hound dog used in Jordan for buzzard hunting, and these ignorant Umno members are barking up the wrong tree over a Malaysian citizen who has shown mercy and kindness to her pet dogs, and the Prophet had preached mercy and kindness to all beings.
This political one-upmanship must stop before the people throw this bunch of narrow minded opportunistic politicians out of power in the next election.
The DPM must be charged under the Sedition Act for wrongful accusation .
MacMac: What a nation Malaysia has become. We have people like Perkasa leaders Ibrahim Ali and Zulkifli Noordin spitting seditious remarks about other religions and they are roaming around with total impunity, and a young dog trainer gets remanded.
This is the Umno-BN government chosen by a minority, ruling Malaysia.
Ironman3: While the government is busy catching dog trainers and bak kut teh eaters, people are being shot all over the place and the country's outlook is going downhill from stable to negative (see the Fitch ratings). Malaysians who love this country, please stand up and be counted.
NuckinFuts: Now let's see how fast the police act on the DPM and the racist principals. Justice now!
Adsertor: My honest opinion is that this is being blown out of proportion. I did not see any intent to insult. Malaysians are known to be tolerant and respectful of others. What has become of us? Is this what we want for ourselves and for the future of our children?
DSM: We Malaysians have to learn to grow up and be less sensitive over small things and should not look upon every action as insulting. Relax, brother.
Jk7462000: Just wait and see. This has all the hallmarks for making the powers-that-be in this country the laughing stock of the entire world, again. And in the process, embarrass Malaysians worldwide. Facepalm.
