Apology not enough from 'Balik India, China' HM

YOURSAY ‘It's honourable enough for her to apologise but racism cannot be solved by a mere apology.'

'Principal admits to making balik India, China jibe'

your say CiViC: While asking Chinese to return to China and Indians to return to India was being racist and inappropriate, it still makes logical sense. But asking Malays to return to Indonesia? And this is coming from a school principal?

The SMK Alam Megah headmaster has been seriously miseducated, and the implication that this is coming from a school principal implying that Malay Malaysians are from Indonesia is nothing less than catastrophic.

But I would like to believe that was just a poorly disguised explanation that she was doing it to everyone, while she cannot say "asking Malay students to return to Malaysia", the next best option is Indonesia, of which in the end opened her up for more oncoming fire.

Fairplayer: It's honourable enough for her to apologise but racism cannot be solved by a mere apology. A massive overhaul of mindset in our education system and schools must be addressed and arrested immediately.

The overhaul must begin with the PM, headmasters, and all cabinet ministers. No trace of "ketuanan" (supremacy) should be allowed, be it race or religion. Period.

Racial harmony is where everyone is treated as equals and each Malaysian must respect fellow Malaysians as equal. Why make life so miserable by trying to be more superior than others?

The government must start the ball rolling in the right direction. Former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Perkasa and all racist NGOs must be banished into the dustbins of history.

Joker: Whatever punishment was meted out to Alvivi (controversial bloggers Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee), the same should be expected of for this disgraceful headmaster.

She should in fact be slated for heavier punishment because hers was a position of privilege, granted to her so that she can mould the next generation into a loving and caring Malaysian society, but she has instead abused it.

Her young charges are now scarred for life. Never again will the non-Malays look at their Malay classmates with the same innocent eyes. The students have been divided into them versus us.

Nostra: Racism has crept in slowly since the early 80s. Sadly some of the government policies and their implementation has aggravated the situation.

It's going to take some time to eradicate this problem. It must begin with politicians from both sides of the divide to seriously work towards it.

Donkey Kong: The problem with the country is that the society is so polarised. Everything is now seen from racial lenses. It is almost impossible to say anything without being seen as a racist.

I missed those days where we cracked jokes that goes "a Malay, a Chinese and an Indian..." with all my multiracial friends.

Whatsup: Well, at least this headmaster apologised, unlike the ‘shower room' headmaster. But this doesn't absolve her from her derogatory remark.

We are all citizens of Malaysia, born and bred here, and have every right to be here, our country.

Adding that you also told the Malays to go back to Indonesia is beside the point. Disciplining kids is difficult but you don't have to stoop so low.

Mind you, you are the principal with an education and not another mindless Umno goon out to hurt others for their masters. With the kind of leader at the helm of Education Ministry, it's fat hope things will improve.

Pemerhati: The Malay educationists who told the non-Malay pupils to go back to the country of their ancestors have most probably been brain-washed by the BTN (Biro Tatanegara).

Just as Adolf Hitler changed a section of the German population into German Nazis through constant propaganda and lies, the BTN too seems to have succeeded in creating Malay Nazis in the public service.

Shockingly, the BTN is in the PM's Department and continues to carry out its despicable false propaganda and brain-washing activities with PM Najib Razak's obvious blessings and encouragement.

Najib's and Umno's strategy seems to be to produce as many Malay Nazis as possible in the bloated 1.3 million public service so that they and their families will vote for the Umno racists and carry out their crooked orders.

Occasionally when any of them make a blunder, as is the case with this headmaster, Umno will try and placate the offended non-Malays by using their ‘Uncle Toms' in MIC, MCA or some other method such as apologising without really meaning it.

Baiyuensheng: There is a better way to discipline these unruly students, especially when singing the national anthem.

But since the headmaster has apologised - let's move on in the spirit of this holy month. We are not perfect. I pray that peace and harmony prevails among us Malaysians.

Toonarmy: Her action shows she is totally unfit to be a school principal, and should be dismissed. Do you tell your students to leave the country each time you lose your cool?

2zzzxxx: If the headmistress has apologised then it is only wise to let the matter rest. I really hope we can accept the headmistress' apology.

Do not forget many of Umno leaders such as Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, have make such remarks with impunity. They have never apologised.

Giudice: An apology, while deserved, is insufficient. At the root of it is the fact the principal of a school considers Malaysian students as "pendatangs" and not students who are unreservedly Malaysians.

A person with such a mentality cannot be suitable to be a teacher much less a principal.

Umno is major source of racism in schools
